TheÂField TechnicianÂ(Tech) will assist with the maintenance of stations and bikes. The Field Tech will perform routine station and bike maintenance, cleaning, balancing of bikes, and station installations. Field Techs will work under the guidance of their direct supervisor to ensure that all stations and bicycles are maintained and cleaned in accordance with our routine maintenance schedule. Field Techs will respond to system balancing needs on a proactive and reactive basis. The Field Tech will also work directly with Station Technicians, Mechanics, Customer Service, and Dispatch teams to perform minor station and bicycle repairs in the field. Field Techs will be courteous drivers who understand the importance of safe driving.Â

Core Responsibilities:

Drive a Ford Transit or equivalent extended wheelbase van to complete daily tasks.Â

Distribute bicycles throughout the system to ensure bike stations are appropriately stocked.Â

Collect bicycles requiring in-shop repair work.Â

Inspect and ensure bike stations are safe, clean, and operating properly.

Assist with bike and bike station deployment and redeployment.Â

Interact with bike share passholders and the public in a friendly and professional manner.Â

Perform regular in-field monthly safety checks on bicycles and in-shop bicycle maintenance.Â

Maintain stations (troubleshooting, replacing parts, swapping batteries, cleaning) in accordance with company policy and standard operating procedures (SOPs).Â

Maintain frequent and clear communication between Dispatchers, Station Techs, and direct supervisor.Â

Receive and follow daily task directions provided by Dispatch team.Â

Work under the guidance of direct supervisor or Operations Manager.Â

Additional Responsibilities:

Open and close warehouse, as assigned.Â

Graffiti and sticker cleanup at stations.Â

Communicate with Dispatch to give updates on conditions at stations and in coverage area.

Respond to Dispatch in accordance with companys communication policy.Â

Communicate with Lead Field Technician about van mechanical and safety issues.Â

Complete service records for all work performed in accordance with company SOPs.Â

Communicate with other staff and supervisors to affect improvements.Â

Give and receive feedback to other team members.Â

Provide assistance with in warehouse bicycle repairs, builds, and refurbishments.Â

Other duties as assigned.Â

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

Valid driver license and clean driving record that passes insurance requirements for the company.Â

Excellent mechanical skills, and some experience in bicycle maintenance and/or willingness to learn.Â

Strong Communication and interpersonal skills.

Must be a team player with a positive attitude.Â

Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.Â

Ability to follow instructions, respond to managements direction and solicit feedback to improve performance.Â

Proficiency with computers and the ability to learn new software.Â

Ability to understand and learn technical aspects of the software and the hardware capabilities and needs of a bike share system.Â

Excitement and interest in bike sharing.Â

An eye for safety in everyday tasks.Â

Sense of humor.

Physical Requirements and Special Demands:

Frequently bend, stoop, and twist throughout the day

Requires the ability to regularly lift objects up to 50+ lbs and carry objects of this weight for distances up to 150 feet

Requires the ability to perform work while standing for prolonged periods of time.Â

Repetitive motion required of the wrists, hands, or fingers occasionally throughout the work day.

May require working and riding a bicycle outdoors in various temperatures including rain, cold and heat conditions.Â

Comfortable driving, stopping and working in busy outdoor urban environments.Â

Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance in accordance with company and department policy.

This position may require hours that exceed 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week.Â
