Western Resource Advocates (WRA) is seeking a dynamic, organized, and creative person with great people skills to be our Recruitment & Hiring Manager to recruit a diverse pool of applicants, hire outstanding new employees, ensure a smooth on-boarding process, and retain a talented team of conservation professionals across the Interior West.

Founded in 1989, Western Resource Advocates (WRA) is dedicated to protecting the Wests land, air, and water to ensure that vibrant communities exist in balance with nature. We use law, science, and economics to craft innovative solutions to the most pressing conservation issues in the region within three core program areas: Clean Energy, Healthy Rivers, and Western Lands.

Position Summary

The Recruitment and Hiring Manager is responsible for WRAs hiring process, including: recruiting applicants, interviewing candidates, networking, onboarding new employees, training current staff on interview and recruitment techniques, coordinating WRAs internship program, and supporting other human resource needs of the organization. This is a new position and offers a unique opportunity to craft and implement hiring policies and procedures.

Reporting to the Vice President of Finance and Administration, the Recruitment and Hiring Manager will be an integral part of WRAs Administrative Team “ the backbone of WRA, providing the infrastructure to keep the organization strong and uniting WRAs different departments through common staff, systems, and policies.

Location

The position can be based in one of WRAs offices in Boulder, Denver, Carson City, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, or Santa Fe.

Responsibilities

- Develop and execute recruitment plans, including strategies to attract a diverse field of applicants.

- Lead internal hiring committees in the creation of a recruiting and interview plan for each position; keep hiring committees up to date on progress of recruitment plans.

- Collaborate with Vice President of Finance and Administration to create job announcements and descriptions, candidate email correspondence templates, and other recruitment materials.

- Network with colleges and other institutions that may have good candidate pools, and attend career fairs; seek candidate referrals from existing WRA staff; post positions in various online outlets.

- Screen and evaluate candidates to recommend moving forward in our hiring process.

- Conduct in-person and phone/video screening interviews.

- Coordinate interview logistics and keep candidates informed of their status throughout the recruitment process.

- Collaborate with Administrative Team on the onboarding process as candidates shift to becoming employees of WRA.

- Schedule and facilitate periodic trainings with WRA employees on best practices for recruiting, hiring, and retention.

- Coordinate WRAs internship program, including recruitment and placement in WRA offices of legal, graduate level, and undergraduate interns.

Qualifications

- Experience interviewing job candidates and managing hiring processes.

- Experience recruiting for jobs or building networks of contacts.

- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from various backgrounds, levels of education, and professional experience.

- Highly organized and detail-oriented; excellent time management skills.

- Ability to work well both independently and collaboratively.

- Not intimidated by computer databases, working with technology, or social media.

- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.

Salary and Benefits

Competitive salary based on relevant experience; the salary range for this position will be provided to applicants invited to an initial interview or upon request. WRAs excellent benefits package includes health, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) retirement plan, life & disability insurance, 3 weeks paid vacation leave, sick leave, parental leave after one year, sabbatical leave after five years, and an RTD EcoPass for staff in the Denver/Boulder metro area. Position is full-time exempt.
