Level 1.5 Technician
The Level 1.5 Technician will provide the first and some next level of network system maintenance and end user support and is expected to have more in-depth knowledge of hardware, software and, more importantly, networking and security topics than a typical Level 1 Technician has. Having some experience working with servers is a plus.
Additionally, the Level 1.5 Technician will monitor and maintain the clients network systems, troubleshoot network systems when necessary, and make improvements to the network as directed by senior technicians. He or she will rely on experience and guidance from senior technicians to plan and accomplish goals. The Level 1.5 Technician will collaborate and work with senior technicians on more complex tasks as needed.
Primary functions include:
Primary contact for all client support calls
Handle first-line troubleshooting to understand client problems
Attempt to resolve or adequately diagnose the problem
Create service tickets
Ensure problems are resolved remotely or dispatch technician, as appropriate
Go on-site for Level 1+ technical issues
Implement and monitor network security as directed
Maintain network software and hardware as directed
Perform troubleshooting of network infrastructure problems as directed
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Order parts for technicians/clients as needed
Provide any administrative support functions as directed by the business owner
Install, upgrade and optimize PC and network device hardware for clients
Manage, administer and secure Local Area Networks
Skills, knowledge and experience:
Prefer a minimum of CompTIA A+ certification
CompTIA Net+ or Security+ also a plus; Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician is desirable
One two years customer service experience in a business-to-business environment
Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills
