The Town of Breckenridge Public Works Department is seeking a uniquely qualified individual to fill the vacant position of Construction Inspector. The individual in this position will split their duties between the Streets Division and the Engineering Division. Duties include but are not limited to:

Engineering (Summer)

The incumbent in this position will review residential and commercial land development permits plans for compliance with Town code site civil items, complete site civil field inspection of residential and commercial land development, review and administration of Town Right-of-Way encroachment permits, inspection of improvements within Town ROW related to encroachment permits, review of plans and proposals by utility entities for utility installations within the Town ROW, office administration and file management of hard copy and electronic files related to building permits, encroachment permits and utilities. The incumbent also provides assistance to the Town Engineer and other departments within the Town and perform a variety of technical and administrative duties as assigned by the Town Engineer.

Streets (Winter)

As a member of the Streets & Parks division, the incumbent in this position shares the responsibility for the winter activities of the Streets & Parks Division. Primary duties include operating heavy equipment and plow trucks for snow and ice removal of streets, alleys, bridges, and rights-of-way. Additionally, the incumbent may perform drainage construction repair/maintenance, streets signage, special event support, and specific infrastructure projects as needed for the Town of Breckenridge.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or GED

Two (2) or more years of experience in construction, construction inspection, construction management, civil engineering, streets and parks, road and bridge, and/or other similar related experience.

Successful applicants must be able to perform physical, demanding work, and are required to meet the DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements, pass a pre-employment drug screen; have a clear Motor Vehicle Record, pass a drug and alcohol release from previous employers(if applicable), a background check and reference check.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES OR EQUIPMENT REQUIRED

Ability to obtain a Class "B" Colorado Commercial Drivers License within 60 days of hire.

Valid DOT Physical Card within 30 days of hire.

Public Infrastructure/Construction Inspector Certification (or related certification) required within one (1) year of hire.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

Two (2) or more years of experience in Civil site work construction or college course work in civil engineering or construction management desired.

Working knowledge of current construction principles, practices, materials and methods preferred.

Ability to read, understand and correctly interpret technical written material, plans, diagrams, blueprints and specifications highly desired.

Engineering experience working in a professional office environment with significant public contact desired.

Proficiency in use of computer programs such as Excel, Word and Energov.

Knowledge of civil site construction practices, Town code and Engineering Standards desired.

Knowledge of reading and interpreting residential and commercial construction drawings desired.

Ability to keep, organize and file hard copy and electronic documentation desired.

Additional Information

WORK SCHEDULE

Must be able to work shifts that may include days, nights, weekends, holidays and on-call as needed up to 40 hours per week or as needed at the discretion of management.
