Lee Veterinary Clinic has a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join their Veterinary Assistant Team. The ideal candidate must truly love helping others (clients, animals, doctor, and technicians), intelligent, have good administrative skills, strong attention to detail, and have real experience interacting with large animals such as horse and cattle. (For example - grew up on a farm or previously worked at a mixed animal practice or were highly involved in FFA or 4-H).
Veterinary Assistants here at Lee Veterinary Clinic work with both companion animals as well as large animals. The responsibilities of the Veterinary Assistant include, but are not limited to the following activities:
Patient history and vital collection
Vaccine, fluid, injection preparation and administration
Proper restraint for lab work and treatments
Venipuncture and lab processing
Anesthetic monitoring
Surgical recovery of patients
Triaging critical situations
Setting up and performing radiographs
Electronic charting and financial transactions
Client communication and education
Hygiene services
Filling prescriptions
Stocking and cleaning
All other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements: This job is physically active and requires frequent bending and standing for long periods of time. It requires routine lifting and restraining animals. You must be able to lift up to 40 lbs and able to work around pet hair and dander.
