PRINCIPAL PURPOSE OF JOB:The purpose of the position is to be part of a team of technicians who will work together to complete various assigned projects. The voice and data technician may work alone on a project or with other technicians. Projects generally include supporting, pulling, terminating and testing various types of communication wire and building communication systems.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:Project environments for our Voice and Data Technicians include construction sites (including outdoor work), occupied and non-occupied office/professional buildings, schools, etc. Technicians are required to maintain a professional demeanor in all work environments.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Voice and data tasks include the following:
cabling installation
equipment rack installation
jack and connector installation
cable types will include but are not limited to: CAT3, CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6a, fiber optic, COAX, speaker, and control wire
testing with various pieces of test equipment
possible attendance of job site subcontractor meetings
customer relations
some projects are in occupied buildings and a professional attitude is required
