Job duties: Obtains detailed patient medical histories and performs physical examinations to assess health status of patients for review by physician. Performs routine surgical procedures under supervision in order to assist physician. Performs, orders and interprets tests. Notifies patient of results. Removes sutures, dresses wounds, recommends prescriptions of non-controlled substance medications, writes orders and performs other duties related to patient care. Analyzes physical histories, laboratory data, and imaging results to assist physician with patient diagnoses. Counsels and instructs patients in order to provide support. Maintains medical and billing records. Maintains a system for accurately recording and reporting patient conditions in the medical record, and maintaining billing records. Assists in planning, maintaining, evaluating and interpreting patient care standards for the clinic.Unit Specific Education/Experience/SkillsKnowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree in an approved Physician Assistant program; State of Michigan license, and certification by the National Commission for Certification of Physicians Assistants or, to be obtained within six months of hire; one to three years of experience as a Physician's Assistant.
