Grinds and smooths surfaces of items using powered portable wheel or disk grinder. Examines and feels surface of work piece for defects. Starts grinder and moves it over surface of work piece to remove scratches, metal, excess weld materials, and burs. Positions and manually guides tool along specified guidelines on edge or surface of work piece. Grinds and chips work piece to groove, bevel, round, or straighten edges or removes excess stock from metal as specified by drawings, job orders, or guidelines, or to remove defects, such as shrink cracks and holes, using portable grinders, chipping hammers, and hand files. Grinds chips or brushes off excess weld, splatter, and rust to improve appearance of work piece. Inserts selected grinding wheel or cutting chisel into portable grinder or power hammer. Replaces worn abrasive disks and wheels using wrench. Sharpens chisels and dresses grinding wheels, using grinder and wheel dresser. 1st SHIFT: 6a-3:30p, 2ND SHIFT: 3:30 p.m. - 2 a.m.
