Carpenter/Remodeler/Handyman/Helper

Missouri, Kansas city, 64101 Kansas city USA

Vacancy expired!

We have two positions open. Pay is commensurate with experience and we pay well. If you’re not reading this to the end – then just click on the next ad. We run things differently and enjoy our work.

How we run the show:

We all enjoy building and remodeling and keep the mood light. The best idea always wins. If you don’t know something, just ask – we’re glad to teach the craft of carpentry and more. Leave any ego or drama at home – focusing on the job at hand is paramount. Good communication and meeting expectations is super important with our customers and the team – everyone wins. We’re looking for people that want to stick around and grow with us for the long-term. We don’t care what color your skin is or if your reproductive organs are internal or external – ours is a very respectful environment at all times. Our business is blooming through customer referral – we don’t advertise at all – we don’t have to.

Key Attributes for both positions.

-Shows up on time, clean and sober. Did I mention showing up on time? If anyone gets a sense that your drunk, high or generally phucked-up – your done. Buh-bye.

-must have reliable transportation and basic tools – we work primarily in the Northland between Gladstone and Parkville

-must communicate well and responsibly with the whole team and especially me the owner.

-Being mindful and respectful to everyone on the team and customer. We like to joke around and poke fund but being disrespectful isn’t tolerated.

-Safety first mindset. No stupid-human tricks please. I’ve seen a few knucklehead injuries and some really bad ones.

-Don’t check your phone every 3 minutes – you need to focus on what we hired you for. Few smoke breaks a day is fine. 3-4 smoke breaks per hour won’t work for us.

-must be able to lift heavy stuff – bags of concrete, long timbers, etc. you will develop calluses on your hands if you don’t have them already. Must be comfortable on a ladder.

Position 1: Experienced Carpenter/Remodeler. You may have a good understanding of building to IRC building codes…we don’t skimp or cut corners. Understanding interior framing, drywall work, electrical light (light swaps, outlet swaps, etc), plumbing light (swap/fix toilets, vanities, faucets, etc), trim work, flooring (tile, vinyl plank flooring, etc), must understand basic deck construction (we do a lot of them) and we build over-code. Pay is depends on experience. If you’re a very experienced master carpenter with actual people skills – we’ll build a team around you.

Position 2: Carpenters Helper/Apprentice. (START DATE: August 8th) You might have helped a relative or worked a summer doing this kind of work. This position is just as its name implies - Helper/Apprentice. Primarily, you will be part of a two person team working with an experienced builder. Other times or as needed, you’ll be humping lumber and supplies on-site and the occasional run to hardware store. You will be called in many directions to lend an extra pair of hands sometime, but you’ll be learning in the process. You may be set to task for a good period of time. When the day is done – we all chip in and help clean up. But during the day – if you see something that only takes a hot minute to clean up – just do it – be proactive about it. This is an entry level job but I honestly rather hire someone who hasn’t developed bad habits – we’ll teach you the smart/rewarding way to work. Must be eager and show some initiative. Pay depends on experience. Veterans encouraged to apply.

Respond via craigslist and we can arrange a meeting quickly……very quickly.

Thank you.
