Description We are in search of an Accounting Assistant to join our team in the retail industry, based in Monmouth County, New Jersey. This role provides an opportunity, where you will be instrumental in maintaining our financial records, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments. Your role involves working closely with our accounting team to create and analyze financial reports and ensure legal requirements compliance, process accounts payable and receivable, and manage invoices and tax payments.Responsibilities: Assist with the preparation of financial and statistical statements and reports Analyze financial information in order to identify discrepancies and inconsistencies Process accounts payable and receivable, depending on the role Utilize accounting software systems to record, store, and analyze information Check figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes Classify, record, and summarize numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records Perform variance analysis, as needed Utilize Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suites to organize and present data Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations Perform general ledger account analysis and assist with cash applications as needed.Requirements Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems Experience with ADP - Financial Services Knowledge of Great Plains (GPAC) software Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suites Familiarity with Accounting Functions Experience with Accounts Payable (AP) Experience with Accounts Receivable (AR) Familiarity with Billing Functions Knowledge of Cash Activity processes Ability to manage a General Ledger Experience in Variance Analysis Background in retail industry is preferred Good communication skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently and as part of a team Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field is preferred Strong organizational and time management skills Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
