A small, independent elementary school in Park Slope, Brooklyn, is seeking a Human Growth and Development and Sexual Education teacher for a multi-week program for 9 children ages 9-11 years this spring between April and June 2024.
We are looking for a talented, nurturing, and comprehensive educator who is experienced working with this age group and guiding the amalgam of complex inquiry and emotions that come with processing this information. Our goal is for students to emerge from this educational foundation further inspired as they move into this field of awareness about themselves and others.
We are seeking an educator who embraces and pedagogically supports the vast spectrum of gender identity, as well as the expanse of unique individual expressions of human growth and development. The curriculum should address age-appropriate physical, mental, emotional, and social dimensions of human relationships and sexuality.
Key areas of the desired curriculum are:
CONSENT & HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS
ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY
PUBERTY & ADOLESCENT SEXUAL DEVELOPMENT
GENDER IDENTITY & EXPRESSION
Compensation will depend upon proposals for time and amount of content covered.
