Summary - Roanoke Valley Wine Company has excellent opportunities for qualified Drivers. We are seeking the right person to fill an open position in Roanoke. This is a Part-time On-Call position that could lead to other openings later or just be a good seasonal position for the right Driver.
A company delivery vehicle is provided. We are looking for Drivers who have a good working understanding of SW VA. These positions will range from 1-3 routes per week, usually consisting of 8-10/hour work days TUE-WED-THUR and FRI. Hours worked will vary based on seasonality with longer work weeks expected during the holiday season of OCT-NOV and DEC.
Starting compensation is $12/HR PLUS, A higher hourly rate will be considered for qualified Drivers with 3 or more years of delivery experience.
Position Summary The Driver is responsible for delivering orders of wine and beer to customers on the assigned route. Drivers will typically have 15-20 deliveries per day. A list of orders will be provided via a Route Manifest and a Route Plan for the day. The time and miles of each delivery route will be monitored via Fleet Management Software and evaluated on a regular basis. Speed and Driver activity is monitored through the day. Drivers are responsible for securing payment and collecting any returns while making the primary delivery. Several accounts in a given market also need additional support merchandising our products.
Primary Duties
Accurately secure payment for each delivery and note method of payment.
Safely operate the assigned vehicle and keep it in safe working order.
Collect any returns and properly note the return reason on paperwork.
Neatly assemble and return paperwork to the office in a timely fashion.
Merchandise product as needed, staying customer-focused.
Maintain a great relationship with the office and Sales Reps through regular proactive communication.
Accurately note any exceptions to paperwork and review exceptions with the office.
Deliver all assigned orders accurately on the designated delivery day.
Work the route plan and review exceptions to the route plan with Dispatch.
Keep miles and time within the tolerance level of the route plan.
Experience and Qualifications
Must have a High School Diploma or GED
Must have no felony convictions per VA ABC
Must maintain a clean driving record of no more than 1 moving violation per year and overall positive points
Must be at least 22 years of age
Must be able to safely operate delivery vans and trucks weighing less than 26000 GVW. No CDL required.
Must be capable of driving for extended periods of time through the day.
Must be able to safely lift cases of wine and beer kegs weighing 40-80 lbs. through the day.
Must be able to accurately read and review the manifest and do basic addition, subtraction and multiplication to confirm and adjust invoices as needed.
Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently.
