Job description
The Springhill Suites Bakersfield has a position available for Housepeson. This position assists the housekeeping and maintenance department.
The current schedule is as follows. This schedule can change based on hotel needs.
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 1:30 PM to 10:00 PM
Wednesday and Thursday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
POSITION PURPOSE
Ensure all areas of Hotel guest rooms are clean and maintained according to the standards set down by the hotel, thereby contributing to a pleasant, positive guest experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Perform general cleaning duties in Hotel as follows:
1. Responsible for supplying and furnishing maids closet linens and amenities for guest rooms
2. Maintain cleanliness of maids closet
3. Responsible for pick up of dirty linen from maids cart
4. Responsible for furnishing clean linen throughout day
5. Maintain cleanliness of all trash chute rooms
6. Maintain cleanliness of glass doors and windows
7. Maintain cleanliness of Vending /Ice machines
8. Maintain cleanliness of hallways of Hotel and stairwells (Vacuum/carpet exaction)
9. Maintain cleanliness of all hallway lamps, i.e., sconces and ceiling lamp
10. Maintain cleanliness of elevators
11. Maintain cleanliness of hallway telephone and furnish with supply
12. Support Room Attendant by cleaning and stripping guest rooms
13. Perform Guest Request throughout day
14. Ensure work area is clean when finished
15. Responsible for being knowledgeable about the hotel
16. Maintain at all times a neat and clean professional appearance
17. Assist with cleaning rooms when needed
18. Assist with working in laundry department when needed.
Other:
Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel:
· Enforce hotel safety standards.
· Perform other duties and handle projects as assigned by Manager.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities:
· Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
· Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
· Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
· Knowledgeable with carpet care and floor care
· Some experience with carpet and floor care equipment preferred
· Knowledgeable with cleaning chemicals and supply equipment
Physical Demands
· Work tasks are performed indoors and outdoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems.
· Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 4 hours in length.
· Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.
· Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space and to reach other departments of the hotel on a timely basis.
· Must be able to bend, squat and lift up to 75 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
· Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
· Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks.
· Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
· Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
· Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
· Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
Experience
Prior hospitality experience preferred, but not required
Grooming
All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance.
