Overview:
Our repair technicians are responsible for diagnosing, refurbishing and repairing home audio components and speakers from just about every brand out there. To be successful the right person needs to have a balance of efficiency, thoroughness and attention to detail. Time management is a huge part of the role as you will have to track multiple pieces in various states of repair with the goal of moving them through as quickly as feasible - a self-starter will have the opportunity to be very successful as we don’t micromanage.
Job duties will include diagnosis and repair of high-end consumer audio equipment, such as preamplifiers, amplifiers, speakers, powered speakers, tuners and more. Candidates must possess basic knowledge of electronics theory, including principles of voltage, current, Ohm's Law, and the essential functions of components such as resistors, capacitors and transistors. Candidates must also be familiar with the use of test equipment including multimeters and oscilloscopes to perform diagnosis to component level. Specific experience in repair of consumer or professional audio equipment required. Candidates must have experience with component-level troubleshooting of audio electronics as well as soldering.
Our customers are generally technically savvy and knowledgeable and will ask intelligent questions and for updates along the way. Many of the products we work on are valuable. The variety of equipment is vast. It takes a talented individual to be able to competently repair such a wide array of components at a level that meets the expectations of our customers.
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Knowledge of amplifier circuitry and circuits
Experience repairing consumer electronics (non-computer) and point to point soldering
Evaluating the issues for items that need repair. This will include both customer items and company owned items
Documenting all phases of the repair in the ticketing system
Following up with customers and responding to questions as needed
Ordering and maintaining parts inventory
Getting creative, such as scavenging parts from aged-out or unrepairable equipment to facilitate repairs on other
equipment
Coordinating with team members to facilitate shipping and receiving of repair items
Ensuring that items that cannot be repaired are cataloged and ultimately don’t sit on the shelves for extended
periods of time
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
Two years of repairing/troubleshooting experience
High proficiency in multitasking, organization and attention to detail
De-escalation skills with customer complaints and issues
Proficiency with email, calendar, ticketing systems and overall general computer literacy
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent customer relationship skills
