Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine the appropriate machining processes and parameters. Select and install the correct cutting tools, work-holding devices, and other accessories required for each job. Control machine operations, adjust as needed, and ensure parts meet quality standards. The Machinist works closely with the senior staff, engineers, researchers, and technicians in the facility.Work closely with the senior staff, engineers, designers, researchers, and technicians in the facility to collaborate, troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing challenges. Contribute to discussions on experimental design, test procedures and potential improvements to the lab’s capabilities. May be involved in identifying opportunities for upgrades or modifications to instruments and equipment, based on their operational experience. This includes contributing to the development and maintenance of documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).Maintain accurate records of production, machine usage, and any issues or problems encountered. Ensure a safe and clean work environment and adhere to all safety protocols and procedures. Ensure that the equipment and instruments are being utilized effectively and efficiently. Perform regular maintenance and servicing of shop equipment and assist in the maintenance of instruments and other experimental equipment, ensuring that they remain in good working order.Other duties as assigned.Expected Salary:$25.00-$27.00/hour; commensurate with qualifications and experienceMinimum Requirements:High school diploma or equivalent and three years of relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.Preferred Qualifications:

Associates degree or technical diploma in a related field, such as mechanical, electrical, or manufacturing technology.

Minimum 5-10 years of experience as a manual and CNC machinist operating mills, router, and EDM equipment, with a proven track record of producing high-quality parts.

Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders

Skilled in the operation of manual lathes, mills, CNC mills, router and EDM machines

Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Attention to detail and a commitment to quality and safety.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
