What you need to know:The Salvage Examiner is responsible for all aspects of the automobile and other property salvage process. As a Salvage Examiner, you will be responsible for maximizing our salvage recoveries and minimizing salvage expenses. The salvage examiner will work closely with our claims partners to determine if there are any salvage activities required, such as inventory review, preserving property, and vendor assignment. The Salvage Examiner will drive the vendor assignment, sale, disposal, and oversee all vendor activities from file referral through resolution. How you will make an impact
Handle salvage caseload across North America while ensuring all tasks are completed properly.
Coordinates assignment to appropriate salvage vendor within approved vendor network. Obtain exceptions where necessary.
Coordinates documentation between salvage vendor and property owner.
Ensures evidence holds are placed when appropriately and reviewed on an ongoing basis.
Work closely with our claims partners to ensure early referral, promote methods of cost reduction.
Sell vehicles by monitoring the salvage site daily to resolve outstanding issues, negotiate or approve bids.
Monitors salvage related expenses, ensures we are billed per contracted rates.
Process paperwork related to a total loss of a vehicle such as: securing the original titles, original power of attorney, lien releases, odometer statements, and appraisals. Work with adjusters to obtain and enter the information into appropriate systems.
Issue payments (deficit drafts) to salvors and monitoring sales.
Document end to end all salvage activities, costs, cycle time data.
Awareness of, and adherence to, local laws for ownership transfer and sale of vehicles.
Establish and maintain professional working relationships with our internal recovery team, claims partners and vendor network.
What you'll need to succeed
College Degree preferred, but not required.
3+ years’ experience within the Property & Casualty insurance or salvage industry required.
Industry knowledge pertaining to vehicle damage and valuations, changes in the market.
Prior experience automobile repairs, salvage and claim process required.
An understanding of local laws, insurance markets and language.
Ability to work to tight timelines when necessary.
Advanced working knowledge of Automobile, Property and Specialty Lines of Business.
Understanding of the insurance recovery process.
Experience and confidence to build relationships required with team, stakeholders, and vendors.
PC skills and experience with various database search systems, ability to perform research on local laws and statutes.
