At the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD), every employee is critical to the mission, and we strive to foster an innovative, collaborative workplace where employees can grow and do their best work.The Idaho Transportation Department is hiring a temporary, non-benefited, Shopkeeper for our District 4 Shop, located in Shoshone, Idaho. The successful candidate would play an essential role, working directly with our shop staff. This opportunity provides practical real-world experience and exposure to a variety of shop and mechanical tasks.This position requires driving an ITD vehicle. A valid driver’s license is required and a driving record review is required. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Collecting and transporting shop parts and supplies;

Loading, unloading, and organizing shop equipment;

Cleaning and general maintenance of shop;

May perform routine maintenance procedures including oil changes, tire rotations, fluid flushes, etc.;

May perform multi-point vehicle inspections;

Following and promoting our high standards of safety, cleanliness, and organization;

Working together with other technicians you will solve problems, meet deadlines, and deliver great results.

Qualifications:

A strong motivation to learn a mechanical service career path

Shows a high level of interest, willingness to learn, and embraces new ideas

Good communication skills and strong attention to detail

Self-motivated and exemplifies a positive attitude

A valid driver’s license

Physical Requirements:

Occasionally lift and/or move over 50 pounds

Be able to work with tools on vehicles lifted above their head

Work in tight spaces as dictated by the vehicle's needed repair

Have the needed dexterity in order to efficiently use hand-tools

Walk/stand for the majority of the workday

Drive manual transmission vehicles
