JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:Penn State is currently seeking a Development Assistant to support Penn State Abington, Penn State’s most diverse campus located in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, near Philadelphia. The Development Assistant’s responsibilities include:

Provide support to the Director of Development and all team members in support of the overall development and alumni-related functions.

Engage in prospect and project management, collect and compile data, provide administrative support, serve as the liaison between Penn State Abington and central DDAR, and assist in identifying and cultivating potential donors.

Facilitate the annual fundraising goal-setting processes for Penn State Abington by managing documentation, information, and progress reports related to the development mission of Penn State Abington.

Articulate Penn State’s needs, ambitions, and values, including diversity, equity, and inclusion, through excellent informal and formal communications.

Work collaboratively with the Director of Development, development staff, committee volunteers, etc. to maximize fund-raising efforts and success.

Process and deposit gift checks in collaboration with the campus financial office and DDAR Office of Donor and Member Services.

Coordinate purchasing and assist the Director in managing budgets for the Abington Development office using Penn State’s approved platforms.

Prepare, provide, and review various reports for Major Gift Officers and Directors of Development; support donor tracking and participation and ensure precise database record management.

Provide administrative support for the travel of development staff; complete travel expense reports; ensure staff have necessary pre-travel materials and post-travel follow-ups.

Coordinate outreach and special events.

Manage electronic calendars for the director of development and team members by coordinating meetings (in-person and virtual) with internal faculty, staff, administration, and donor partners.

Respond to requests for information as needed.

This position requires a High School Diploma/GED or Vocational Training/Degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.The successful candidate will also have:

The successful candidate must be highly organized, adhere to deadlines with attentiveness to detail, possess excellent interpersonal skills, and write and communicate effectively. The ability to quickly become proficient with the University’s Client Relationship Management platform and various software systems is required. Must be able to work occasional evening and weekend events, and perform other duties as assigned and/or approved by the director. This position requires flexibility, strong instincts for protocol and etiquette, and the ability to manage confidential and sensitive information. Must demonstrate ability to work collaboratively, be reliable, and possess the ability to work under limited supervision on several projects simultaneously, understand and set priorities, and meet deadlines with great attention to detail.Operation of a motor vehicle as part of the position’s duties and a valid driver's license are required.
