Job Description: Apex Systems is currently seeking a Senior Linux Administrator to join their team. As the Linux Administrator you will design, install, operate, secure and maintain dedicated Program Information Technology Infrastructure that is required to deliver products to our customers. This position is located in Huntsville, Alabama. This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active) Position Responsibilities: Lead Information Technology projects providing dedicated program infrastructure Work directly with programs to ensure Information Technology infrastructure solutions meet the program requirements and schedules Perform a multi-disciplined range of technical systems and application activities Design, install, configure, troubleshoot and provide maintenance of systems hardware, software and components Ensure Information Technology infrastructure conforms with standard architectural objectives Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems Develop solutions that are imaginative, thorough, predictable, and consistent with organization objectives Determine and develop approaches to solutions Receive general direction for work that is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives Contribute to the completion of specific programs and projects Interact frequently with inter-organizational personnel and external customers Represent the organization by providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): 5+ years of experience in performing system administration tasks on Linux hosts including installing security patches and making configuration changes to support security requirements 5+ years of experience in integrating hardware and software components into a functional system 5+ years of experience working with Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) Integration in a Linux environment 5+ years of experience working within multi-disciplined teams to resolve business impacting computing issues Preferred Qualifications (

Desired Skills/Experience:

3+ years of experience in architecture, designing, and implementing an infrastructure for a program

3+ years of experience working with Virtual Systems (i.e. VMWare) design and implementation

Experience with High Performance Computing (HPC) applications and frameworks

3+ years of experience with standardized Network Protocols and Services (i.e. TCP/IP, VLAN, DNS, DHCP, Firewalls, etc.)

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically 9 or more years' related work experience or relevant military experience.

Advanced degree (eg. bachelor, master, etc.) preferred but not required.

Additional responsibilities include:

Leads the support of multiple customers by gathering requirements and working with teammates to design, implement and

maintain complex solutions in secure environments based on company processes and procedures.

Contributes to the team as a technology versatilist with advanced knowledge in LINUX, storage systems, networking and application integration.

Develops specific plans, designs, and bill of materials to support the closed areas. Installs, configures and maintains all Unix/Linux based computing servers in the closed and open areas

Protects and maintains closed or isolated environments and information through development and administration of an operational security (OPSEC) program and physical controls.

Integrates security solutions with contractual requirements into complex information systems, multi-layer security solutions and processes.

Interfaces with the appropriate government agencies and customers to interpret security requirements, provide guidance and conduct audits.

Investigates, manages and resolves data spills.

Develops and maintains portions of the Systems Security Plan (SSP) and Access Control Plan (ACP).

Maintains knowledge of various government and corporate security policies and plans. Monitors and performs routine to complex administrative functions to maintain and enhance computing delivery systemEducation / Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience,

Master+7 years' related work experience, 13 years' related work experience, etc.).
