Job DAerospace's Missile Defense Software team is seeking a highly motivated Technical Software Engineer to join their team! This section develops a wide variety of software applications, modeling and simulation (M&S) capabilities, and performs missile flight software assessments to support Missile Defense Agency.

This position is hybrid position and is located at the Aerospace Facility in Huntsville, AL. It will require 3 days/week working on-site and the remaining days will consist of teleworking.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Contribute to Missile Defense System's performance assessments in both simulation and missile flight test environments.
  • Evaluate algorithm performance enhancements through modeling, simulation, and analysis.
  • Develop and upgrade technical tools and pipelines to deliver missile assessments
  • Provide independent assessments and lead studies with teams of analysts derived from the most capable government/FFRDC/SETA/contractor sources.
  • Communicate with a broad range of customers, program managers, and senior leadership.
  • Some travel is required, approximately 10%
  • Position is located in Huntsville, Alabama.

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements:
  • BS or advanced degree in aerospace engineering, computer science, applied mathematics, or related engineering field
  • Eight years of professional technical experience after obtaining a bachelor's degree
  • Strong proficiency with scripting languages such as MATLAB and Python
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical ideas and concepts through written reports and verbal presentations
  • Passion for missiles/space/national defense and solving big data problems
  • This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
  • Eight or more years of professional technical experience after obtaining a bachelor's degree
  • Ability to implement solutions to large data problems in languages such as MATLAB and/or Python
  • Previous development experience in C/C
  • Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with customers, contractors, and colleagues is required
  • Experience working in a DevSecOps environment
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills, including the ability to identify, organize, prioritize, and ensure timely completion of tasks is required
  • Experience in a Missile Defense System and or in one of the following areas:
    • Algorithm evaluation
    • Missile System Performance
    • IR or Radar sensor performance
    • Experience with the fusion of RF and EO/IR data
    • Large data set processing techniques
