Job SummaryThe Laboratory Information Systems Analyst supports the clinical lab. The overall responsibility of the Laboratory Information System (LIS) System Analyst is to provide day to day technical support and maintenance of laboratory information systems. These responsibilities include but are not limited to technical support of LIS application software and hardware; development and support of system and application interface and integration requirements; support of and participation in after-hours on-call.The ideal candidate will have practical clinical laboratory experience, experience with laboratory information systems, possess a willingness to learn the Company’s processes and systems and cross train on other positions in the IT department. The LIS Analyst position will work in the Company’s Huntsville, Alabama facility.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for learning and supporting the Company’s laboratory information systems, testing, systems analysis and systems documentation.
  • Provide technical support of LIS hardware and network infrastructure.
  • Setup tests and rules in Middleware.
  • Develop and support integration interfaces using HL7 interface standards.
  • Address and follows change management processes as they arise to ensure compliance and maintain integrity of application and systems build.
  • Provide application and system management support for event identification, event correlation, event escalation, and recovery.
  • Build credibility, establish rapport and maintain communication with stakeholders and business partners at multiple levels, including those external to the organization.
  • Provide remote support for external clients.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining documentation and standards development.
  • Monitor LIS workflows to continually improve and optimize.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education/ Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, Medical Technologist or related field, preferred. Experience will be considered in place of a degree.
  • LIS application/system experience required.
  • Medical Technologist or clinical experience preferred.
  • Experience in Data Innovations Middleware preferred.
  • Experience in a Systems Analyst or Systems Engineer preferred.
  • Strong technical skills.
  • Working knowledge of HL7 interfaces.
  • Excellent skills with the MS Office suite.
  • Ability to analyze data and make recommendations.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical skills, and the ability to follow problems and issues through completion.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with customers, vendors, peers, and management.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be adaptable in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Must be able to multi-task effectively.
