Job Summary

Growing company on the leading edge of technology in their industry that is rapidly expanding and offers promotion potential has an opportunity for a

MRO Buyer. They are located in a good location in east / central Alabama. There are very good benefits and they begin first day on the job. Relocation assistance is available also. The work day is 7:00am to 4:00pm or 8:00am to 5:00pm with occasional OT.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process Request to Purchase forms and verifies all information completed on form
  • Ensures the original quote and any other pertinent information is attached to the form
  • Confirms that the supplier of a critical component is on the Approved Supplier List prior to processing Request to Purchase. If the supplier has not been approved, notifies the requestor and Purchasing Management to resolve. Verifies the RTP has the appropriate approvals
  • Issues Purchase Order through purchasing software within no more than 12 hours post RTP approval. Email, fax or phone in the PO to the supplier
  • Communicates with suppliers on regular basis. Investigates any cost savings or avoidances. Tracks savings and cost improvements on monthly basis. Researches alternative methods or competing suppliers for services or MRO purchases. Attends all required training sessions established by company or suggested by Director
  • Provides assistance to other company departments if so requested and is able to support
  • Retain all records in purchasing file folders
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma manufacturing practices
  • Proficient in prioritizing job orders/deliveries
  • Ability to requisition materials and establish delivery dates
  • Strong time management and organizational skills to effectively meet assigned deadlines
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to compute amount of material required for orders
  • Maintain manual or computerized records
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree preferred, but will consider an Associate degree or at least some college
  • Prior Purchasing experience with MRO. Minimum 3 years
  • Would like annual spend experience of at least $10 million dollars
  • Preferred experience in Logistics sourcing or negotiations
  • Ability to convey conclusions and recommendations concisely in properly formatted, well-written reports
  • Knowledge of MS Word and Excel required
  • Basic knowledge of SAP/MES or other known ERP system experience required
  • Lean experience or training strongly preferred
  • Must have negotiation skills
  • Need to be able to demonstrate successful metrics of cost savings
  • Must have purchasing best practices skills
