Job Summary and Qualifications

The OR Liaison provides oversight of daily activities between the OR and Sterile Processing Department (SPD) to facilitate efficient case flow. We work hard to support the patients and families in our community while supporting each other in our efforts to provide excellent care. We are looking for someone who feels patient care is as meaningful as we do. In this role:

• You will be responsible for instrument maintenance and cleaning.
• You will perform inventory replacement procedures and create and maintain physician instrument sets.
• You will assist the operating room staff in preparing the O.R. suite for surgery by assisting in instrument and equipment preparation.
• You will respond to problem calls from Surgery.
• You will always communicate in a professional manner to all hospital staff and company employees.
• You will transport sterilized instrumentation to the service technicians in the O.R. area as needed.
• You will assist staff in removing soiled or un-sterile instrumentation and scopes from the O.R. area.
• You will ensure the quality of care by cleaning, maintaining and assisting in the repair of designated hospital instrumentation and equipment.
• You will collect and transport appropriate instruments to the designated cleaning area as needed.
• You will process and clean all equipment according to manufacturer’s guidelines, including the use of protective equipment as indicated in Alaska Regional Hospital SOP’s.
• You will place instrumentation in appropriate containers using tray list. Ensures all instruments are properly arranged in instrument trays and have no broken insulation or broken operational parts.
• You will routinely lubricate all instrumentation to ensure proper operation of moveable parts, according to manufactures guidelines.
• You will assist in the routine sharpening of all instrumentation by obtaining and completing required forms for approval.
• You will verify that required instrumentation has been sterilized and is available for next-day, call or weekend cases.

• Two (2) or more years of previous operating room experience preferred.
• High School graduate or equivalent required.
• American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification within 7 days of hire.
