Position Overview

Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt has an opening for a full-time Legal Assistant/Paralegal in the ‎Litigation and Business Departments in its Anchorage office. Schwabe offers a hybrid work ‎environment. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required. ‎

This position requires 3+ years legal assistant/paralegal experience with strong secretarial skills, ‎strong computer skills, and a high level of organization and accuracy with attention to detail. The ‎successful candidate will be able to turn work around quickly, possess strong oral and written ‎communication skills, and be a self-starter who enjoys a fast-paced, team environment. ‎

Essential Duties (Legal Assistant):‎

Create shell documents and pleadings via Payne Forms

Assist with online research, including Division of Corporations, recorders’ office, etc.‎

Prepare documents for filing in State Court

Prepare documents for filing in Federal Court

Pull and prepare documents for notebooks

Process legal documents for distribution and electronic storage

Travel arrangements and scheduling

Run conflicts checks and set up new clients and matters

Proofread various types of documents

Perform administrative work including filing, typing, and special projects

‎ ‎

‎ Essential Duties (Paralegal):‎

Assist with document production including logging all documents produced and received ‎and maintaining documents in binders or files

Prepare and respond to document production demands and requests for admission

Assist with depositions including compiling and preparing exhibits in preparation for ‎deposition; managing and maintaining depositions, including logging depositions and ‎maintaining depositions; and summarizing deposition transcripts‎

Assist with medical records including obtaining records, organizing medical records, ‎compiling notebook of records by provider, numbering medical records, organizing and ‎summarizing medical bills, and assembling notebooks for IME, or for expert review

Notebook preparation including medical notebooks, transaction books, deposition ‎preparation notebooks, Arbitration/hearing notebooks and trial notebooks

Assistance with trial preparation including compiling and preparing exhibits, assistance ‎with demonstrative exhibits, deposition designation, and preparing and serving trial ‎Subpoenas

Court runs, searching court files, and ordering audio tapes

Database work in e-discovery programs such as Relativity to include preparing or ‎facilitating preparation of database, loading deposition transcripts, and searching database ‎or transcripts for words or phrases upon request

Assist with Alaska state corporate filings and proxy solicitations, including filings with the ‎Division of Corporations and Banking and Securities

Ability to bill 500 hours annually

Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

Relativity or similar e-discovery software

Trial Director

Required Education and Experience: ‎

A Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal certificate is preferred

At least three years of litigation paralegal experience

At least three years of litigation Legal Assistant experience

Any equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered. ‎
