Sharing Alaska is a new, rapidly growing tourism media startup with an engaging community of over 600,000 active followers across various social media platforms. Sharing Alaska was born out of a desire to share the beauty and wonders of Alaska. Sharing Alaska leverages the diverse, local content-creator talent, the gig economy, and the desire to partner with local businesses and tour operators to help create a strong, sustainable, and eco-friendly tourism economy in the Last Frontier.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Sharing Alaska is looking for an energetic, organized, hardworking team player with advertising or sales experience to join the Sharing Alaska team!

The Advertising & Marketing Coordinator (AMC) reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and helps research, identify, and implement advertising strategies, both internally and externally. The AMC will work with staff to identify companies and clients who might benefit from partnering with Sharing Alaska and advertising on Sharing Alaska’s platforms. Additionally, the AMC will seek out creative opportunities to advertise Sharing Alaska and maximize the company’s brand exposure.

The AMC will help facilitate cross-channel social media posting, including photos, videos, stories, graphics etc. The AMC will help propose advertising packages to companies and clients. The AMC works with all staff to support and promote the organization’s mission and vision.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

 Coordinate, schedule, and manage social media posts and website ads for clients

 Research, identify, and help pitch potential clients

 Assist with creating social media, web, and banner ads for both clients and Sharing Alaska as needed

 Updating of information and notices on website and social media content

 Occasional paid-for instate travel

 Assist with other duties as needed or directed:

o Be okay with paid staff brunches and lunches!

o Professional training programs/seminars/workshops are encouraged and paid for!

o Comfortable working with a collaborative and energetic team!

QUALIFICATIONS

 2+ years of advertising / marketing / sales or relevant experience

 Familiarity or experience with design software (Canva, Photoshop, InDesign).

 Understanding and use of social media platforms and trends: Facebook, Instagram, TikTok etc.

 B2B (Business-to-Business) sales experience.

 Experience with advertising on social media platforms.

 Experience/knowledge of web, Google, website ads.

 Goal-oriented and outgoing individual with attention to detail.

 Quick learner that takes the initiative and is self-disciplined.

 Excellent verbal, social, and time management skills.

 High School Degree or equivalent required.

 You should be based in Alaska, ideally Anchorage!

 You love tourism, tourists, and sharing the wonders of Alaska!

 You enjoy traveling across Alaska and have experience exploring our great state!

 Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or other relevant degree preferred.

 Social media management or marketing experience preferred

 Tourism industry knowledge, experience, or connections preferred
