Employee salary:

OPTION A: The Director of Church Ministries receives $41,200 per year under this agreement, with medical insurance provided by St. Mary's up to an amount totaling a maximum of $10,788 in premiums per year for a full-time employee.

OPTION B: The Director of Church Ministries receives $45,620 per year under this agreement, in lieu of medical insurance. The employee must certify that currently have equivalent coverage through another source. If the employee later requests entry into the health insurance plan, the annual salary will be reduced by $4,500.

After a probationary period, this employee becomes eligible for participation in a defined contribution 403B retirement plan, consisting of a 5% employer contribution, and a voluntary employee match of up to 4%.

Plus, additional benefits:

- Option of up to 13 paid holidays per year:

New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, President's Day, Seward's Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Alaska Day (Oct 18th), Veteran's Day (Nov. 11th), Thanksgiving Day, Friday after Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas.

- Personal (combined sick and vacation) leave as per the St. Mary's leave policy.

- annual consideration of cost-of-living increases in pay

The number of hours worked under this agreement is projected to average 40 hours per week.

Usual anticipated hours include: 4 weekdays 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, plus Sundays with some evenings and weekends. Some flexibility with these hours is possible.

The Director of Church Ministries is a supervised employee with set work hours and a set of duties and responsibilities as assigned and supervised by the Rector of St. Mary's, and / or his designee.

All employment is at-will.

Arranged so as not to interfere with Parish events or worship services.

Benefits for part-time employees will be on a prorated basis, depending on the number of hours worked per week.

Job Description Overview

Duties:

- Assist in the organization and management of the programmatic offerings of the church, including but not limited to children and youth ministries, newcomer welcoming, outreach, and worship,

- Recruit, train, and provide ongoing communications and support to 100+ St. Mary's lay leaders in numerous ministry areas, including:

- Lay readers

- Worship leaders for special events, including Passion Gospel readings, children's worship events, Good Friday and Holy Week, Taize', Blue Christmas, Epiphany Feast of Lights, Thanksgiving, and Advent

- Altar guild members

- Ushers

- Newcomer connectors

- Acolytes

- Crucifers

- Pastoral care visitors

- Lay Eucharistic visitors

- Nursery Providers

- Sunday School coordinator

- Sunday School teachers

- Toddler Class teachers

- Youth Activities Coordinators

- Youth Sunday School teachers

- Playschool Admin Council representatives

- Outreach volunteers

and manage numerous e-lists, text lists, mailing lists, etc.

- Create and maintain training videos and curriculum in the above ministry areas,

- Scheduling of volunteer lay ministers, or support of scheduler,

- Provide support for newsletter preparation and maintenance of website,

- Coordinate and oversee our social media presence, including curating and writing appropriate articles and content, and answering requests and messages,

- Assist with timely changes and content updates for any lighted signs or smart TV screens,

- Provide administrative and logistical support for routine and special projects and tasks,

including capital campaigns, pledge in-gatherings, special events, seasonal projects, etc.,

- Layout and Design (annual report, communications and projects),

- Assist with managing rector's schedule & communications, and

- Other duties as assigned by the rector

Essential Functions of the Job: Reflect a joyful commitment to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, model respect for every person, and raise up and empower the gifts of every baptized person. Essential functions include the ability to lift up to 25 lbs. safely, ability to answer phones, ability to reach up to 40", ability to drive or use public transportation to shop for supplies; ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English, ability to cross slippery surfaces safely, ability to use alarm system, ability to promote safe and welcoming public relations with user groups and members of the community, ability to interact congenially and effectively with parishioners, staff and user groups.

An additional, and highly significant essential function of the job is the ability to understand the objectives and requirements of the job, and to be proactive in generating effective strategies for accomplishing them in a complete and timely manner.
