We are St. Mary's Episcopal Church - a progressive Christian faith community of 500 active members, widely engaged in community ministry in partnership with numerous social service organizations and social change groups.

Currently, we are seeking two Nursery Childcare Providers. These are part-time positions working primarily on:

Sundays, 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon (summer)

Sundays, 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (fall/winter)

Wednesdays, 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. (fall/winter).

You will be joining a team of three childcare providers already working at St. Mary's. Each shift requires at least two childcare providers to be present and you will be scheduled on a rotational basis.

The overall responsibility of the Nursery Childcare Provider is to ensure the safety and well-being of children up to age 3, caring for them in a nurturing and loving manner.

Duties include the following:

Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to opening of nursery.

Complete nursery orientation, including such items as safety and cleaning procedures, diaper changing policy, etc.

Enthusiastically greet parents and children, ensuring parents sign their children in and out.

Care for the needs of the children including feeding, comforting and engaging.

Provide age appropriate church related activities through music, stories and creative play.

Teach age appropriate socialization skills.

Monitor the children's play, ensuring their safety at all times.

Exhibit positive reinforcement and affirmation to the children.

Provide a snack and water.

Other duties:

Supervise and coordinate other childcare providers, ensuring adequate coverage.

Recommend needed items for the Nursery.

Complete Safe Church Training through the Diocese of Alaska (online course).

Ensure nursery is left in a clean and orderly condition following the Closing Check-List.

Contact Staff Supervisor with at least 48 hours' notice, in the event of needing to schedule a Sunday off.

Candidates must have reliable transportation.

Must be able to pass a background check.
