Job purpose

This position will assist both the sales and operations departments as needed. Employees will answer phones and place orders for customers on a daily basis, and fulfill walk-in requests. Employees may also assist in other sales and operational duties as assigned.

Duties and responsibilities

Provides customer service to wholesale deliveries and will-call, bush and walk-in customers.

Courteously receiving customer requests for price quotations, purchase orders, order changes or adjustments and cancellations.

Maintain a working knowledge of produce commodities and be capable of providing expert consulting to our customers.

Performs data entry. 10 Key and data input accuracy are a must.

Evaluates invoices to check for accuracy of order and prices, and adjusts as applicable.

Checks and monitors accounts for past due and over-limit status.

Work with drivers on routing. Work closely with transportation and sales regarding deliveries of scheduled shipments.

Assist salespersons with communication of customer's needs, administrative tasks, and any special projects.

Maintain professional relationships with customers and fellow employees.

Must be punctual and have excellent attendance.

Monitors out-of-stock items using lost sales function and reports inventory problems.

Coordinates all paperwork flow between warehouse and office, including invoicing, tracing and filing.

Supports warehouse operations manager in verifying accuracy of orders.

Handles out-going mail, including Fed-Ex, UPS, USPS. Ensures accurate postage and fees are applied.

Receives incoming freight paperwork and enters documentation into log for tracking.

Updating order guides, calling customers to check on daily orders, as well as placing courtesy calls to customers.

Providing administrative support to upper level management.

Additional responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

Associates degree preferred, or 3 years plus experience office work or equivalent training or certification required.

Sales and/or customer service experience is essential.

Experience with Wholesale or distribution is a plus.

Experience with freight is a plus.

Must have excellent interpersonal human relations and teaming skills.

Must be quick and accurate with figures, attentive to detail, able to multi-task and have good follow through.

Must be skilled in time management and capable of meeting scheduled deadlines. Strong organizational and communication skills, with attention to detail and ability to prioritize are required.

Must have excellent phone and PC skills-especially Microsoft Office Suite. Position requires 10-key by touch, plus type 55+ wpm with proficiency and accuracy. Experience with AS400 system is a plus.

The successful candidate will be outgoing and prefer to work in a busy environment.

Physical Demands

Requires sitting or standing for long periods and ability to bend or stoop as needed.

Requires typing and working at a computer for long periods throughout the day.

Requires ability to use arms and shoulders to lift, reach overhead, mid-level and low-level.

Requires ability to walk varied distances on hard surfaces, climb stairs, and lift and/or move items that weigh up to 50 lbs.

Working Relationship

Works closely with and frequently assists management and sales staff. The successful applicant must have a positive and professional attitude, the ability to work in a team environment and under pressure.
