General Functions

Under the direction of the Senior Manager, Information Technology, this position is responsible for the implementation, monitoring, and management of all aspects of a complex enterprise information technology environment. This includes managing enterprise network, telecommunications, server, storage, and application systems with the aim of optimizing system security, availability, and operational efficiency. This position also assesses analyzes technology solutions, providing recommendations for improving stability, availability, and overall service delivery.

Systems Administration

Manage technical aspects of CIHA’s IT infrastructure, including SANs, servers, switches, routers, desktops/laptops, and peripheral hardware.

Manage CIHA’s externally hosted (“cloud”) systems such as Microsoft 365, Azure and others.

Manage enterprise software systems, including VMWare virtualization software, NetApp systems, firewalls, email, virus protection systems, internet monitoring systems, etc.

Identify gaps between business requirements and system capabilities and recommend solutions.

Perform all operational functions for systems deployment, including design, installation, capacity planning, upgrades, and configuration.

Ensure safety and security of CIHA’s IT systems by overseeing backups of vital services to provide high availability, high performance and highly secure service implementations.

Analyze, troubleshoot and resolve issues with enterprise systems, working with subject matter experts and vendor support technicians as needed.

Ensure systems meet industry standard best practices.

Serve as Tier III help desk escalation resource.

IT Procurement

Recommend appropriate technologies to meet growing and changing business needs.

Provide recommendations and detailed specifications for systems, tools, and technologies to advance CIHA’s information technology infrastructure.

Skills/Abilities

Ability to work in a complex technical environment with minimal supervision

Ability to develop and implement new approaches, methods, procedures, and enhancements to improve network and system performance and achieve optimal performance standards

Demonstrated experience making decisions, taking action, meeting deadlines, and working independently

Knowledge of network technology, security guidelines, industry standards and best practices

Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems

Ability to troubleshoot problems by methodically working through issues, determining causes of operating errors, and deciding how to solve them

Excellent customer service skills

Ability to successfully communicate technical information to non-technical audiences

Experience in the following:

o Microsoft Environment: Windows Server, Windows 10, MS Exchange, Active Directory, MS Office, MS SQL, Microsoft 365 Azure

o NetApp

o VMWare vSphere

o Cyber Security

o Mobile Device Management

o SNMP/WMI alerting and monitoring

o Meraki MX, Z3, and MR Appliances and Networking

o Miscellaneous software/systems: backup solutions, imaging software, firewalls, virus protection software, anti-spam software, etc.

Education and Experience

BS degree or similar degree with major course work in information technology, network administration, telephony, computer programming or related areas. Experience can be substituted on a year for year basis.

Microsoft MCSA or MCSE on Windows Server 2012 or newer. Individual Microsoft certifications with pertinent experience can be substituted.

CompTIA Network+ or Cisco CCNA certification. Expired certification with can be substituted with recent experience of 2+ years.

7 years technical experience in hardware and software systems administration

5 years experience in systems analysis, business process reengineering, and project management
