Alaska Scrap & Recycling is now hiring a Seasonal Temporary Full Time Equipment Operator to work in the Palmer/Wasilla area from Jan 7 - June 14, 2019 (approximately), Mon-Fri 8am-4:30pm (weather permitting). Assistance at our Anchorage location may be needed on occasion.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be able to pass drug testing and background check.

Experience Required: Three (3) years' experience in the operation of heavy equipment including, but not limited to, front-end loader, hydraulic excavator, material handler, baler and shear.

TWIC Card: Must have or be able to get a TWIC card within 30 days of hire.

Minimum Level of Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Knowledge of: Heavy equipment operating procedures.

Skill in:

Safe and efficient use of equipment.

Interpersonal interaction, positive attitude, and excellent teamwork.

Ability to:

Work efficiently under adverse conditions and/or under pressure.

Speak and read English to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate with others, including radio and/or cellular phone communication.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Operating heavy equipment in accordance with all OSHA, state, and federal requirements

Operating equipment of various sizes and weights in the loading and unloading of various equipment, supplies, and scrap materials to and/or from trucks or containers.

Operating heavy equipment including, but not limited to, front-end loader, hydraulic excavator, material handler, baler and shear.

Inspecting the equipment prior to and after operating; recognizing and documenting any maintenance needs.

Moving scrap metal material within the yard to the appropriate material stack.

Ensuring all customer interactions are polite and courteous.

Routinely cleaning the equipment used inside and out.

Completing work documentation and submitting it to supervisor at end of shift.

Safety of vehicle, equipment, and surroundings.

Wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Maintaining regular and predictable attendance.

Performing other duties as assigned.
