Kramer and Associates seek a Legal Assistant and/or Legal Secretary in our Fairbanks office. Applicants must be personable, reliable, and professional. We specialize in suing government agencies for failing to protect vulnerable Alaskans. No divorces. Our work is challenging and satisfying.
Legal Secretary
The successful candidate will be a team-oriented secretary with attention to detail, word processing, Apple computer and products, Adobe programs, Microsoft Word and Excel programs, document management and organizational skills, and communication.
Legal Secretary: Two years (preferred but not required) of clerical secretary work that includes clerical tasks (such as preparing correspondence or reports, filing, entering data, receiving payments, or maintaining logs) and frequent contacts requiring professionalism (such as with clients, other lawyers, court staff, expert witnesses).
Experience in the legal field is preferred but not necessary.
Job Requirements:
Calculating and calendaring court dates from documents (incoming and outgoing) and maintaining attorney schedules
Communication (written and verbal)
Experience in state and federal court filing is not required but desired.
Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs
Our ideal candidates will have legal secretarial background experience.
Organizing and maintaining files, Preparing legal documents and correspondence
Proofreading and formatting documents.
The ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment, with frequent interruptions while remaining calm, organized and accurate; and
Experience applying sound judgment and performing tasks independently;
Ability to work well in a team, where cross-training and coordination of unit duties with other employees is a must; and
Ability to work effectively and calmly with individuals who have experienced trauma.
Legal Assistance
The successful candidate will be a seasoned professional who has at least two years experience in a Law Office. The candidate can work independently without the need for micromanaging to deliver tasks in a timely manner to meet all deadlines. This individual has either a paralegal degree or work experience that offers the same degree of knowledge as that of a certified paralegal.
Job Requirements:

Knowledge of court rules and procedures, including appellate procedures
Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs and Apple computers and software
Obtaining records
Organizing and maintaining files

Our ideal candidates will have legal secretarial background experience as clerical duties are required.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Operation of routine office equipment to include computers, multifunction copiers, printers
Experience and ability to accomplish a high-volume of work that requires you to apply well developed organizational skills, regularly prioritize tasks, and work effectively under pressure;
Experience performing tasks independently;
Ability to work well in a team, where cross-training and coordination of unit duties with other employees is a must; and
Discovery and litigation support.
