JOB TITLE: Refrigeration Technician

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Refrigeration Operator is responsible for the upkeep and repair of the facility's ammonia refrigeration systems including: tunnel freezer and blast cell freezers, and flake ice making capabilities. Reports to Chief Engineer.

RESPONSIBLITIES:

Maintenance and repair of the plant's refrigeration systems.

Maintenance and repair of trucks and forklifts.

Works with other departments to provide a continuous flow of product through the plant.

Ensure all tasks including all associated paperwork are completed in compliance with Plant's safety program.

Follow all requirements of the facility’s Process Safety Management program for refrigeration compliance.

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Previous experience with industrial ammonia refrigeration systems.

Ability to work long shifts during peak production.

Must be self-motivated and has the ability to work independently with little or no supervision.

Must have own basic hand tools.

Consistent and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.

Familiarity with basic electricity and welding is a plus.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Must be able to work long hours in wet and cold conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
