Supporting the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Warfighter Training and Exercises team as Training System Operator (TSO) using the (GMD) Fire Control & Communications (GFC/C) systems primarily on the GMD System Trainer (GST) at Ft. Greely, Alaska.TSO will operate and maintain the UNIX/LINUX based GFC/C system for daily training and exercises. Interface with internal, external and Government personnel during training runs, system tests, upgrades and exercises to provide training solutions that meet customer requirements. Provide operator support to test/integrate new hardware and/or software version installations. Identify/report system/network anomalies, and perform daily system cleanup.Day, evening shift and week-end work will be required. Daily Duties:

  • Ensure correct start up and operation of the GFC/C in the training facilities at Ft. Greely for multiple customers
  • Coordinate with contractor and Government personnel to schedule training systems and de-conflict them with other activities
  • Verification/modification of training configurations
  • Operation of both GFC/C and the simulation system including coordination with external agencies that support training
  • Maintain necessary documentation
  • Manage System Logs

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications: 0 years of experience with Bachelor of Science degree or 3 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of college degree requirement. 2. DoD Interim Secret security clearance with ability to obtain DoD Top Secret clearance.3. Strong work ethic, demonstrated problem solving ability, willingness to learn new skills, and proactive approach.4. Work effectively on a small team with multiple external teammates and customers. 5. Adaptable to rapidly changing environment.6. Self-starter, drive to continuously learn and assist customer with GMD systems knowledge.7. Must be able to work day, night and weekend support.8. Experience working with UNIX/LINUX platforms.9. Position requires up to 10% travel.

Preferred Qualifications: DOD Secret ClearanceBS and 6 months of applicable experienceGMD GFC/C experience in training and exercises.

Computer and programming skills. Knowledge of military command, control and communications systems.
