As a paralegal, you will be working closely with Attorney Gwen Neal in a small, busy law
office. About half of our practice involves criminal defense, Child-in-Need-of-Aid, and
domestic relations cases. The other half includes legal services in areas such as
fishing, business transactions, and estate matters.
The ability to organize, communicate, and analyze information in an increasingly
complex legal system is vital to being successful in our office.
Mainstay paralegal tasks are listed below and will be adjusted as the paralegal aligns
with the position. As you may expect in a small business, the team pulls together to get
done what needs to be done.
● Maintain client contact
● Assist in drafting legal documents such as motions, orders, affidavits, subpoenas,
and briefs
● Review Discovery
● Research relevant statutes, case law, codes, and other pertinent material
● Attend court hearings, as needed
● Build and maintain case management databases
● Organize and analyze information
● Organize and track client files and documents, assuring pertinent information is
readily available
● Review and process court documents
● Maintain case deadlines and timelines, with responsibility for planning ahead to be
prepared for hearings, deadlines, and meetings
● Actively participate in weekly planning meetings
Experience with and the capacity to multitask is vital. Excellent written and verbal
communication skills and attention to detail are essential. Being a team player is a must.
We prefer a paralegal with experience but are willing to work with and provide training
for a solid candidate who is dedicated and passionate about working in the legal
profession. Candidate must be self-motivated with a calm, confident, friendly and
focused demeanor.
