Job Summary:

This is a skilled welder position that has attained the journeyman level of the craft. Fabricates, lays out, positions and fits together parts of structural metal products for welding in a shop or in the field.

Summary of Essential Job Functions:

This is a journeyman level position that reports to the foreman for assignment to the scope of work.

Responsible for all phases of piping and structural fabrication per industry codes and standards.

Plan, stage materials, tools, rigging and equipment to execute complex jobs.

Properly identify and apply material grades, standard structural shapes, terminology and connections.

Read and interpret ISOs and spool sheets.

Determine common bolt and appropriate wrench sizes.

Apply standard mechanical skills, work with hand tools and safely operate shop equipment.

Follow process safe-out procedures and recognize hazards.

Calculate loads, center of gravity and select appropriate rigging.

Set up and operate an oxy-acetylene torch and plasma torch.

Maintain current fillet welding certificates for SMAW, GMAW and FCAW, as well as SMAW/ FCAW for open-butt welding.

Complies with AES safety policies and the applicable safety handbooks, leads and educates fellow employees in safe work ethics and behaviors.

Minimum Education and Experience:

A high school degree (GED) is preferred, with at least 5 years of petrochemical/hydrocarbon experience in pipefitting needed.

Would prefer 4 years in structural welding and 1 year of structural construction welding experience in an industrial environment as a qualified journeyman. Proficiency in basic math skills of measuring, layout work, cutting, straightening, beveling and fitting structural steel.

Certifications:

North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification and a valid Drivers License.

The proper certifications / licenses and their current upkeep required.

TWIC preferred.
