Job summary
Beryl Air is a Part 135 air taxi based in Homer, Alaska operating a Cessna 206 on floats. Full-time floatplane pilot for the summer 2020 season (May-September) will provide transport to state & national parks, fly to various destination on charter basis and fly scenic flights, pilot position includes acting as a tour guide, and upholding the companys standard of great customer service and an excellent safety record.
Essential duties and responsibilities
Present a professional and positive image of Beryl Air
Practices safety conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures
Provide clear, accurate and timely communication to passengers, customers, and dispatch
Check aircraft prior to flights and ensures engines, controls, instruments and other systems are functioning properly. Monitor engine operation, fuel consumption, functioning of aircraft, altitudes, plane weight, weather, wind, tide and swell conditions before and during flight
Communicates flight status to dispatch, flight service, and other pilots clearly and timely
Ensure that all cargo has been loaded and that the aircraft weight is properly balanced
Plan and operate flights according to government and company regulations to ensure flight safety
Load and unload aircraft
Perform pre-flight checklist on engine(s) and other systems
Handle in-flight emergencies
Greet and escort passengers to aircraft
Maintain flight schedule
Regularly check and report aircraft position and performance
Note any incidents that occurred during the flight
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Must be 18 years of age
Meet the requirements of FAR 135.243b.1 and 61.159
Possess a valid driver license
Must be a United States Citizen or provide proof of right to work in the U.S.
1,500 hours total time, 500 hours float time, 50 hours in C206 preferred
Possess a FAA second class medical certificate
Excellent customer service skills
Knowledge of applicable FAA, and environmental regulations
Excellent vision and coordination
Strong communication skills required
Knowledge of simple arithmetic
Ability to perform service operations outside and in extreme temperatures and weather
Must be able to work at in a fast-paced environment
Must possess the ability to fluently read, write, speak and understand English
Must be physically able to lift up to 60lbs routinely and safely, and occasionally heavier items
Be punctual, organized and clean appearance
Possess the ability to communicate clearly and effectively
Ability to work self-directed and within a team
Must pass pre-employment FAA DOT drug test and participate in random drug testing

Working conditions
Working conditions include working both inside and outside, exposed to inclement weather. Length of the duty day varies, the longest duty day is fourteen hours not to exceed eight hours of flight time per day, 14 hours of duty time. Beryl Air operates 7 days per week, position will allot for at least one day off per week.
Physical requirements
Physical demands that are essential to the job include standing, walking, bending, climbing up to aircraft. Lifting up to 60lbs routinely and safely, and occasionally heavier items, carrying boxes, bags and various objects. Sitting for extended periods of time. Subject to loud noise and vibration, as well as other motion typical during flight.
