We are currently looking for full time Lead Teachers. Education/Experience Required:(first two items required by Dept of Health Svcs R9-5-401-4 Staff Qualifications):

At least 18 years of age

Provide documentation of one of the following;

High school or high school equivalency diploma and 6 months of child care experience;

A.C., C.D.A., C.C.P., or C.P.C. credential

Associate or bachelor degree from an accredited college or university in the areas of early childhood, child development, or closely related field.

Minimum 12 credit hours in early childhood education, elementary education and/or related field, and a minimum of six (6) months of verifiable experience working with children in group setting preferred; or

Has training in early childhood education and a minimum of eighteen (18) months of verifiable work experience with children in a group setting

Skills Required:

Demonstrated a genuine liking and warmth for young children, in addition to understanding of the needs of young children as well as the ability to relate to them

Demonstrates patience and tolerance and can maintain an even keel over long hours and through noise, confusion and frustration

Demonstrates working knowledge of the developmental stages of young children and the ability to plan to a variety of classroom activities, which reflects developmental knowledge

Guides the learning process in the achievement of curriculum goals, and in harmony with the goals established for all lessons

Ability to maintain classroom records and classroom inventory to achieve outcomes

Demonstrates high level of flexibility, innovation and creativity

Conveys a positive self image and attitude which is likely to create the same in young children, and promotes a positive atmosphere through personal example and positive relationships with students and staff

Possess strong, positive communication skills with parents, children and other staff members

Continuously seeks and accept new ideas, and have the leadership qualities to share new information with other staff members in relation to improving the quality of early childhood education

Possesses demonstrated leadership qualities and the ability to make decisions in a positive manner

The Lead Teacher demonstrates leadership abilities by maintaining a positive learning/teaching environment for all staff and students. The Lead Teacher has the ability to develop and implement activities appropriate to targeted age groups and will provide leadership in the implementation of each program. Lead Teachers are responsible to provide learning experiences for child based, company approved curriculum plans in a classroom setting. Work includes, but is not limited to: instructing, administrating, directing, supervising Teacher Assistant and Teacher Aides within classroom and all educational activity.Roles and Responsibilities:

Serve as a positive role model to staff, children and parents in professional appearance, demeanor and use of positive discipline methods

Adhere to and promote Sunrise policy and procedures in childcare, which promotes health, education and well being to the children

Prepare and implement weekly lesson plans and design and create new teaching material to correlate with the curriculum, to be approved by the Director or Assistant Director

Plan and implement individualized and group activities corresponding to the curriculum and the learning goals of the classroom, including but not limited to field trips, special events, parties, etc.

Conduct and maintain accurate developmental screening records on each child in class, in addition to other appropriate records

Report to the Special Needs Teacher any development issues with Special Needs children assigned to the classroom. Support the Inclusion Program by involving children with special needs in class projects and activities and encourage other children to do the same

Report to the Director or Assistant Director all suspected problems with a child’s development, health or behavior

Conduct conferences with parents when requested or deemed necessary

Promote the development of self-help skills and a positive self-concept in the children

Take the lead role and responsibility for the upkeep and security of classroom materials and the rest of the facility

Establishes and maintains appropriate rules of classroom behavior and procedures, while maintaining order

Maintain current First Aid Card, CPR, and TB test results, in addition to attending professional meetings and workshops, as directed

Maintain a clean, safe and healthy teaching environment

Follow all safety procedures while supervising children and performing duties

Oversee classroom food service program by coordinating a seamless meal and snack time between teachers and food service staff, including but not limited to taking meal counts as required by the Department of Health Services, serving correct portions, and cleaning up after meal time

Maintain a daily log of student encounters, treatments and accidents. Informs Director when applicable

Accept any reassignments or additional assignments by the Director or Assistant Director

Participate in and encourage parent-involvement activities

Report dwindling supplies in ample time to secure replacement

Attend staff meetings and training sessions, promote CDA program with staff

Act as Sunrise representative to external customers, i.e., parents community, etc.

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities
