Atrilogy' direct client is seeking an Accounts Payable Manager to join their team on-site in North Phoenix, AZ. This is a full-time, direct hire role. The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for management and analysis of accounts payable transactions in a moderate volume, full cycle AP department. This position manages the daily and monthly AP operational activities including the management and mentoring of staff in completing tasks in an efficient, accurate and timely manner and providing training to staff and other team members. The Accounts Payable Manager will also identify and implement effective and efficient process improvements and serve as subject matter expert during upgrades and integrations.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the full cycle, centralized Accounts Payable function
  • Lead the Accounts Payable team through day-to-day operations and troubleshooting complex situations
  • Monitor deliverables and team performance, while acting as the liaison between internal and external business owners to facilitate effective workflow
  • Own preparation and processing of disbursements pursuant to organizational policies and key controls, ensuring proper backup documentation, payment terms, authorization, and timely payment
  • Reconcile vendor statements, analyze, and research invoice inconsistencies and discrepancies, and provide resolution by working cohesively with vendors and business owners
  • Lead the department's month-end close process, subsequent receipt accruals and reconciliation of AP subledger to the general ledger
  • Evaluate existing processes and identify and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and ensure sufficient internal controls
  • Ensure procedures and key controls are being adhered to as they pertain to accounts payable
  • Develop KPIs to monitor volume, accuracy, and efficiency of Accounts Payable processing
  • Understand sales and use tax laws as they relate to purchases from vendors and ensure correct tax is paid on Company purchases
  • Apply appropriate analysis to complexities or inconsistencies related to Accounts Payable processes and provide resolution according to company policies and procedures
  • Serve as subject matter expert and manage special projects to support the Company in meeting Financial and Accounting goals
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests, providing timely, accurate and complete audit support and oversight of policies and SOP updates as it relates to accounts payable
  • Prepares 1099 tax files for submission to Home Office tax department and Escheatment research
  • Exercise good judgment and support ethics and integrity throughout the Accounting and Finance teams
  • Ensure comprehensive desktop procedures are created and reviewed on a regular cadence for each role and process within Accounts Payable
  • Hire, train, motivate and evaluate Accounts Payable staff members
  • Establish/maintain a high-performance team of professional, motivated, and engaged staff utilizing effective training, performance management and career-development activities while leading them to achieve established business results and performance metrics
  • Recognize and rewards employee contributions and achievements
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field preferred
  • Minimum five (5) years in Accounts Payable required
  • Minimum three (3) years management experience required
  • Experience in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • PeopleSoft experience a plus
  • Strong understanding of reconciliations, accruals, journal entry preparation and basic accounting terminology (debit, credit, accrual, prepaid)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail, self-motivation and focused attitude are key
  • Must be able to multitask, learn quickly, adapt to change, and work independently when needed
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently create resolution
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact in a courteous and professional manner with all levels of co-workers and vendors
  • Effective use of both verbal and written communication
  • Organized work approach with the ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
  • Proactive problem-solving skills with strong follow through
