Our IT team has 4 different departments: Information Security, IT Service Delivery, Business Enabling Systems, and IT Commerce & Customer Engagement. We have a strategic and actionable plan underway and are looking for associates who are just as excited about it as we are. About the JobBig Data Engineer: The PetSmart Big Data team is looking for a highly curious and motivated Associate Big Data Engineer to help us design and build out our Big Data assets to help and unleash insights and analytics from our data. In this role, you will design and engineer PetSmart's big data platform partnering with data science and business teams to ensure our platform caters to all parts of the corporation while helping to build out our strategic data foundation. You will work with the team to design ingestion pipelines to collect and analyze data, build tools/standards for data science, and help and define the future of PetSmart's data landscape. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Day to Day support of existing data ingest jobs
- Creation, support, and scheduling of ingestions from new sources
- Ongoing data engineering and enhancements to data sets within the environment
- Degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or any other technology related field (or equivalent work experience)
- 2+ years of experience working as a big data engineer (Required) must be able to articulate use cases supported and outcomes driven. Expert knowledge of the following (expectation is to demonstrate these skills live during the interview): Spark, Python, Scala, Hive, Pig, and MapReduce
- Proven experience designing, building, and operating enterprise grade data streaming use cases leveraging one of the following: Kafka, Spark Streaming, Storm, and/or Flink
- Large scale data engineering and business intelligence delivery experience
- Design of large-scale enterprise level big data platforms
- 100's or 1000's of concurrent users
- Experience working with and performing analysis using large data sets (10-1000 TB)
- Proven and Demonstrated experience working with or on a mature, self-organized agile team
- SAFe certification, Scrum Certification
- Previous exposure to cloud data platforms: Examples include AWS S3, Azure ADLS, GCP Cloud Storage
