This role is for a Cybersecurity Advisor

that will help the Schwab Cybersecurity Advisory Services team with the daily execution of activities for Technology Infrastructure and Security Configuration Governance and Security Advisory Services Program. The Security advisory Services team builds and executes a repeatable / measurable process that ensures Cybersecurity is involved early in technology processes across the Firm. You will work to ensure that changes to infrastructure and associated configurations are properly vetted, aligned to security standards, and approved by Cybersecurity, and collaborate between Cybersecurity and business technology teams on building and maintaining secure systems to serve our clients and Backoffice. You will work closely with IT leadership to co-create capabilities that support policy-based change approvals, review, and risk calculation. This role will require a collaborative, technical thought leader that can work closely with business teams as well as technical experts, build relationships across technical and business lines, and has expertise and previous demonstrable experience across multiple security domains such as data protection, application security, threat management, secure design, identity and access, and risk management.

What you are good at

  • Create effective relationships with stakeholders that provide oversight and guidance on obtaining security review and approval for IT infrastructure and configuration changes.
  • Effectively provide guidance on technology changes for our business and technology teams and the products and systems that they build/maintain
  • Ensure that cybersecurity control gap assessments are performed correctly, and are well communicated to the cybersecurity and risk teams, and that remediation plans are designed to minimize risk
  • Develop plans with cybersecurity team members to design and implement security technologies, processes, and plans as needed
  • Clearly communicate plans, status, issues, performance against OKRs and opportunities to senior leadership and stakeholders as part of the cybersecurity assurance function
  • Ensure that project management is well engaged, informed, and tied to stakeholders to promote understanding, communication and reduce ambiguity
  • Build effective relationships with core IT functional teams and leadership that focus on collaborative problem solving and solution development

What you have

  • Demonstratable experience in providing technical solutions in solving large, complex cybersecurity challenges
  • Previous experience in developing change management, IT governance and/or tactical cybersecurity functions
  • Strong analytical skills, and the ability to derive both a story and potential strategic implications from datasets
  • Experience in recognizing and working through ambiguity
  • Strong team building skills with functions outside of your scope of control
  • Knowledge of the financial industry, financial products, and/or fintech
  • Experience in cybersecurity governance of common SaaS platforms (M365, Salesforce, Github, Workday)
