Your Opportunity

Provide Data Center (DC) Technology Disaster Recovery (TDR) technical support to Schwab Technology Services' Application community and Infrastructure Services teams. This includes support for Schwab deployed Applications and Systems for on-prem and Public Cloud.

What you are good at

This is a position that is responsible for oversight for DR Plan management of new/changed apps & systems to ensure recovery tasks and scripts are kept current (are written thoroughly and with highest quality). This requires continuous review to ensure the DR Plans are ready for execution, deliver improvements in our workflow processes, incorporate automation, enforce ITDR Governance Standards, and guide clients in the use of best practices. Serve as Agile development team member to participate in pre exercise DR Plan readiness & post-exercise failure remediation activities. Work within the TDR standard operating processes to deliver DR product and services, ensuring highest quality deliverables. This is inclusive of TDR special projects, DC expansion and consolidations, Infrastructure buildouts (PaaS, IaaS), Audit and Resilience reporting, and Infrastructure refreshes. Perform detailed analytic activities related to DR Governance Standard adherence. Deliver ongoing feedback regarding risk management, mitigation, and prevention. Actively participate in working sessions to address DR exercise failures and measurement of RTO. Continually improve internal DR process utilizing ever changing requirements and technologies available;

demonstrate excellent judgment with the ability to navigate ambiguity. You must make good decisions, can identify issues, provide possible solutions and know when to escalate matters. Self-starter, takes initiative, and can work independently.

What you have

  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience dedicated to IT infrastructure systems
  • 3+ years of disaster recovery operations and management
  • 2+ years of experience in Public Cloud deployment
  • 5+ years of systems engineering experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • Experience working in financial services industry required, experience working at Charles Schwab/TD Ameritrade strongly preferred
  • An advantage to have 3+ years of delivering results using Technical Project Management in an Agile Framework (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) and Atlassian (Jira/Confluence)
  • Must be comfortable to act as liaison for TDR and examination of disaster recovery plans
  • Experience managing medium - large projects simultaneously using well developed sound project management skills
  • Experience working in cross-functional IT teams
  • Must have in-depth understanding of current recovery solutions, high availability architectures and mainframe architectures as is knowledge of crisis communication solutions
  • DCO / ITO operations background is recommended
  • Efficient time management and organization skills
  • Experience establishing, managing and communication with Application SMEs and leads to cultivate strong partnerships
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of current disaster recovery planning techniques and technologies as well as the methods used in performing risk and business impact analysis
  • Understanding of elementary IT server & network (IP, LB, Firewall) principles is critical
  • Requires excellent oral and written communication skills to convey plans, exercises, and activities.
  • Ability to plan, organize, attention to detail and lead the testing of emergency response, recovery support, deadline delivery and business resumption procedures
  • Remedy, Troux, xMatters, MIR3 working experience is beneficial
  • MS Office Suite, MS Project, Visio
  • SharePoint Experience a plus
  • Fusion ITDR SaaS is a plus
