Embedded Systems Engineer-Battery Management for Automotive

Location: Phoenix, Arizona

Long Term

Must have SkillsMinimum 3 years’ experience in Battery Management System (BMS) algorithm Software/Firmware Development & Test.Knowledge of Li-Ion and related cell chemistries. Experience with detailed battery and cell modeling is a plus.Experienced in various test tools like battery testers, EIS and others to evaluate algorithm performance in the batteries.

Software/FirmwareStrong Experience in C/C Embedded Software/Firmware Development.Strong experience with CAN and CAN development tools including CANalyzer, CANoe, CANbedded.Strong fundamentals to understand impact of hardware behaviors on battery performance estimation.Strong understanding of battery gauging algorithms and how hardware design decisions influence SOC and SOH accuracyExperience with Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow (Embedded coder preferred)

H/w designGood experience in hardware design including choosing components, hw schematic design, layout guidelines, BOM Preparation.Experienced in Hands-on Hardware (HW) design and development in automotive electronics domain.Desired experience designing BMS Master / Slave boards.Experienced in Execute HW design/verification activities such as bringup, testing, debugging, creation of test plan and report preparation.Experienced in hardware design and development cycle taking into consideration various standards (IEC, ISO), functional safety (ISO26262).Experienced in EMI/EMC tests & functional safety assessment tests.Experience with Hardware-In-the-Loop Systems.

Desired SkillsExperience with BMS calibration for new BMS features, diagnostics, algorithms, Develop and optimize control calibrations to meet performance and timing targets.Experience developing electronic control boards for battery cell measurement and battery management for automotive applications.Experience developing test plans to verify firmware, h/w.Perform DFMEA and FIT calculations to ensure designs properly mitigate unacceptable risk.
