Job Description

Assists in development of technology focused projects through to the production phase, leveraging technical knowledge in areas of specialty. Provide technology expertise in area of specialty for the site and Region. Develop solutions integrating technical expertise, robust problem-solving methodologies and fostering a culture of innovation improving the performance of Chromalloy.

Leadership

· Participates in Community of Practice(s)

· Assists in technology development projects to full production capability

· Role model in terms of professional behaviors and personal accountability.

· Adheres to and lead by example, all Company health, safety, and environmental policies.

· Provides technical planning leadership by setting technology project priorities based upon company goals, anticipated industry trends, and emerging technology.

· Engages with others inside and outside of Chromalloy to provide a technical leadership presence

Technology Development

· Participates in technical discussions with key customers and related program office

· Utilizes Management Operating System tools to assist with integration of COP technology into production processes.

· Partners with manufacturing operations ensuring effective implementation of technology projects is accomplished.

· Provides technical guidance for implementation of new technologies into the operational environment that effectively drive improvements in business metrics.

· Provides accurate reports/presentations to management pertaining to impact of technology projects.

· Presents outcome of projects/technologies to internal and external customers.

Process Optimization

· Continually reviews and improves technical engineering processes as they relate to area of specialty.

· Promotes Operational Excellence through utilization of a robust problem-solving methodology and technical expertise.

· Maintains a clean, organized work environment by enforcing and supporting 5S principles.

· Adheres to and promote Corporate Code of Ethical Standards.

· Ensures compliance with Company IPM/QPM and ISO-9000 quality requirements.

· Ensures management compliance with MOS Principals.

Coaching/Mentoring

· Provides a guiding role, teaching and instructing within the site and region to effect knowledge transfer.

· Is trainer within area of focus to multiple functions and levels across the corporation.

· Travels outside the facility, as required.

· Communicates with all levels within the Engineering Organization ensuring consistent knowledge transfer.

· Performs other tasks in the facility, the region and the corporation as needed.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/PROFICIENCIES:

· Knowledge of turbine airfoil design and best practices. Combustion design experience would be a plus.

· Knowledge of gas turbine manufacturing processes, finite element analysis, and 3D CAD modeling

· Knowledge of various measuring techniques including CMM, white-light/laser scanning, gages, etc. and their use in developing designs

· Familiar with aerodynamic, performance, and heat transfer disciplines

· Familiar with all aspects of airfoil manufacturing (casting, machining, etc.) and inspections

· Interpretation of engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications

· Knowledge of FAA guidelines for PMA and RS-DER requirements and compliance testing preferred

· Capable of developing and monitoring program budgets and timelines

· Thoughtful and effective communications skills

· Ability to read, write, and speak fluently in English

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Will be determined based on country and other legal regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • 12-16 years of experience in the Aerospace or Industrial gas turbine engine mechanical design discipline
  • BS Engineering (Mechanical or Aerospace),MS Engineering
