Our Infrastructure Architects are responsible for keeping up with the latest and greatest of these changes and using their expertise to deliver solutions that meet the needs of our customers and products.Your Role and ResponsibilitiesSenior Consulting Architects bring a minimum of 10-15 years of experience architecting complex IT infrastructure (data center, network, security, storage and compute) across a broad range of technologies, applying architectural methods to structure solution designs in collaboration with our clients’ senior architects. The Senior Consulting Architect is expected to lead the advisory consulting practice in technical competency and mentor other architects, while ensuring our offering portfolio and methods remain relevant to our clients. As deep subject matter experts, recognized inside and outside IBM, they build strong, enduring relationships with senior client executives based on innovation, trust and service excellence. They are regarded as a leader in the practice across our offerings, methods and technology design competencies. They are accountable for structuring and delivering highly complex, multi-disciplined design engagements that deliver lasting and measurable value to clients. They lead the positioning and adoption of emerging technologies, strategies and processes in their client’s organizations. In addition to their subject matter expertise, they have strong leadership skills and further the evolution of intellectual capital assets and developing practice resources. Individual must be able to demonstrate excellent communication (written and verbal) to be able to run dialogues with clients at all levels of the IT organization.Routinely required to be involved in selling ranging from initial client exploratory meeting, gathering requirements, structuring solution bid, and ramping up the team for execution

Structure, lead and facilitate various design meetings and workshops, be the face of IBM to client leadership, discuss common architecture patterns and reference models, coordinate to ensure the right technical skills are on the team

Establish the solution architecture approach, structure and lead requirements analysis, outline key architectural decisions, plan for milestones, manage engagement outcomes, and oversee project team members to manage toward engagement outcomes

Analysis of client current state, define key outcomes, define/revise IT strategy, design conceptual solutions, plan and execute design and implementation work (with support from technical specialists), while accounting for time, cost and quality targets

Educate, mentor and coach architects on frameworks and approaches

Engage with executive to articulate the value of IBM solutions

Contribute to architecture knowledge base and methods with technique papers, work product descriptions, architectural decisions, guiding principles, documents and code assets

Experience working as a lead consulting architect for an IT professional services firm or similar background in an IT architecture leadership role in a large enterprise

Broad knowledge of major technologies including cloud, virtualization, containers, networking, etc. on different platforms and additional knowledge or experience in the areas of IT and/or cloud technology architecture, service management and/or resiliency is a plus

Broad subject matter expertise across IT infrastructure, IT operations, applications, enterprise architecture, data management, and cloud compute models with ability to advise on industry-leading approaches

Architecture and design method champion to gather and analyze requirements, design and implement specific solutions. Expert level understanding of conceptual, logical and physical design stages

Led detailed design sessions to outline implementation tasks

Experience advising senior business and technical leaders to adopt innovative ways to drive enterprise digital transformation efforts

Know how to apply consulting techniques (such as issues-based consultant, architecture frameworks and methods) in a range of business/IT solution contexts

Knowledge or experience with Enterprise Architecture, e.g. TOGAF, Zachmann, is a plus

Required Technical and Professional ExpertiseSales engagement across opportunity identification, deal shaping and solution architecture

Broad design expertise across all IT technical domains and capabilities

Excellent communication and documentation skills to articulate the solution architecture and roadmap at executive levels

In depth understanding IT environments and configurations such as high availability and resiliency

Must have complex architecture and design projects

Deep understanding of architecture and design principles and best practices

Mentoring and coaching of practitioners

Ability to storyboard presentations to gain client commitment and buy-in

Assemble and lead a team of architects and engineers with engagement management oversight

Competencies and depth in IT strategy, technical architecture, solution architecture, and automation
