Job Description

General Purpose

  • Perform work duties requiring application and knowledge to support and develop business from Industrial, Governmental, and Private Sector clients. Ensure management of projects by supervising and interfacing with customers, supervisors and subcontractors to ensure work performance is planned and coordinated according to schedule, performance and budget objectives. Maintain Service lines in a safe and compliant manner meeting or exceeding all Federal, State, and local requirements. Support and coordinate Emergency Response (ER) services and activities, participate in “on call duty”.

Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Supervises and schedules all work activities related to receipt and shipping of waste
  • Conducts Safety Meetings to ensure that all plant employees comply with all job safe operating procedures including equipment maintenance. Ensures a clean and orderly work area is maintained at all times, proper chemical storage, proper labeling and handling techniques, and proper use of personal protective equipment.
  • Facilitates and or conducts compliance inspections in the plant, and implements corrective actions based on results of compliance inspections.
  • Acts as daily point of contact with customers and or outside entities.
  • May move trucks in the plant.
  • Provides production reports to management
  • Coordinates incoming waste and outbound loads including paperwork.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of machinery and equipment.
  • Supervises the direct the shipping, receiving, packaging, and processing of hazardous waste materials in compliance with standard operational procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Supervises sampling for waste stream identification and perform spot testing to assure safe and appropriate consolidation of waste streams.
  • Supervises segregation, transfer and compacting procedures according to company policies, job safe practices, and quality assurance guidelines. Maintain compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Inspects work area for proper storage, labeling, leakage, and equipment or material deficiencies, and correct any deficiencies.
  • Reports and responds to plant emergencies as needed in accordance with the Contingency Plan.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Ancillary Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate competency in DOT, RCRA and OSHA regulations.
  • Be able to successfully supervise and motivate workers.
  • Knowledge of hazard classes, chemical compatibilities, and segregation.
  • Familiar with DOT shipping, packaging, and labeling requirements for hazardous waste.
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills and communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret signs, labels, waste documents, manifests, procedures, and regulations

Qualifications

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1-3 years’ experience in a supervisor or managerial role

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in HAZWASTE
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a supervisor or managerial role
  • CDL A with HAZMAT endorsement
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification
  • Experience in a business project management-based role
