Tempe law office is looking for an experienced civil litigation paralegal. The position is contract-based. We currently have a breach of contract/unpaid compensation/construction defect case going on. This case will last for probably another year. You must be familiar with the Arizona Rules of Civil Procedure and local court rules and give mostly remote support to our attorney (occasionally meet in the office might be required). Must be able to communicate via phone and email. Please do not reply if you do not have at least 5 years of substantive litigation experiences, including trial preparation. Past work experience in a law firm setting is preferred. You should be responsible, experienced, and will get things done on time.
Job tasks include:
1. Calendar the deadline.
2. Draft motions, pleadings, discovery requests and responses, Bates numbering, redaction, and draft disclosure statements, settlement memorandum, prepare binders for hearing or settlement conference, to trial preparation.
3. Proficiency in legal research as needed, not very often.
4. Assist in the discovery stage to gather documents from the client as needed.
5. Assist in contacting/searching for expert candidates and prepare folders for them.
6. Conduct client communication in a professional manner. Be able to establish a good relationship with clients is plus but not required. The priority is to get work done on time.
7. Familiar with confidential rules, attorney-client privilege rules, and understand the importance of confidentiality.
