Position overview statement:

This is responsible work in the field of behavioral health to provide confidential peer support and self-help via telephone with persons living with mental illness and/or substance abuse in the State of Arizona. This position must have a working knowledge of available community resources specializing the problems of living with mental illness and substance abuse.

Success in the role is measured on:

Model recovery by utilization of personal recovery tools in order to be a role model for peers.

Complete required documentation.

Correct phone records and Credible program entries.

Meet deadlines in an orderly and timely manner.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Communicate with and encourage others who may need services.

Be creative and spontaneous with people to encourage recovery.

Be able to interact effectively with a variety of individuals and groups from varying educational, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds to include listening, sensitivity to the other's feelings, needs and point of view, tact and courtesy in expressing opinions or ideas, projecting a positive image of your agency and behavioral health services.

Organize and facilitate consumer programs and services.

Use independent judgment and problem solving; to make decisions and take action in areas of responsibility.

Use recovery principles.

Delegate appropriately, and refer situations beyond your training, ability, and job description to the appropriate authority.

Develop positive working relationships with consumers, family members, advocacy groups, co-workers, subcontractors and other associated groups.

Ensure Warm Line office is neat, organized and safe.

Promote effective working environment to develop a professional atmosphere.

Knowledge or Experience:

Adhere to the principles of USPRA and NAZCAREs Code of Conduct.

Use of Active Listening skills and resist the urge to take over, causing power imbalances; invite to work together instead.

Minimum Qualifications / Experience:

Delegate appropriately, and refer situations beyond your training, ability, and job description to the appropriate authority.

Be able to evaluate, record, and report factual information.

Be flexible in job assignments and to adjust priorities and procedures to accommodate changes.

Education / Certifications:

HS Diploma, GED

Minimum Qualifications / Experience:

Clear a background and be free of major criminal offenses.

A current and valid Arizona drivers license with a 60 month clear MVR.

If in recovery, must be stable for over one year.

Pass a drug test.

Verified legal status to work in the United States.
