Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field; or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 13 years of relevant experience.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance is required within a reasonable period of time. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Staff Principal IT Network Specialist. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:A key contributor supporting the GDMS network environment such as routers, switches, circuits, firewalls, wireless, intrusion prevention devices, etc. Implements/Supports/Monitors/Troubleshoots network issues being physical or virtual network infrastructure components and coordinates with team members and/or vendorsParticipates as an active team member to be knowledgeable within the different elements of the networking environment.Expert in multiple network domains and the interrelationships within the infrastructure environment and is sought out regularlyContinues to broaden understanding of the interrelationships within the enterprise networking environment with heavier focus on enterprise interrelationshipsSupports/troubleshoots complex network issues and coordinates with across IT domains and vendors leading the problem through resolutionManages development across other organizations and business unitsAligns vision and strategy to meet changing client needs forecasts business needs based on long range planning, analysis and emerging technologiesAnticipates client requirements and develops/implements supporting designsReviews cost, benefit, and impact and influences management concerning upgrades and new technologies that could impact environment and/or business unit. Participates in the Technology and Operational Road MapMentors more experienced IT personnel to include identified Most Effective performersProvides input on financial tradeoffs of solutions/benefits analysis at organization levelParticipates in development of team performance, knowledge, training, capacity, capability, communication on technical approach routines, etc. Develops cross-functional relationships within the organization for sharing and collaborationUses both formal and informal channels to get things doneBreaks down "barriers to progress" & motivates less experienced members of the team to actionStrong advocate of continuous process improvement Leads large sized continuous process improvement efforts

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Participates in technology decisions along with Performance Engineers as they relate to the overall network architecture and associated technologiesImplement, manage, and troubleshoot the enterprise infrastructure including but not limited to outer edge, DMZ WAN and LAN solutions including advanced routing technologies in conjunction with various telecommunication providers and architectures Moderate Advance knowledge for configuring, managing, and troubleshooting with all facets of networking and their various domainsProvide Subject Matter Expert (SME) Level support to solve extreme complex problems within the network environment by redefining and resolving problems from a broader perspective considering strategic initiatives and impact to the businessDemonstrates leadership at developing incremental project plans/task lists and managing schedules and resources for all areas of executionWorks with other SMEs and Enterprise Architecture team making solid design recommendationsActs as consultant to the business in the delivery of IT services in support of business and provides network architecture support to the projectsWorks with customers to identify, isolate, and resolve problems within the network environment to support the business initiativesEnsures all systems are compliant to the security policies and defined hardening guidelines

Target salary range: USD $171,500.00/Yr. - USD $178,500.00/Yr. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary.
