Reporting to the Architecture Manager for an architecture domain, the Senior IT Architect provides advanced technology architecture expertise on decisions and priorities regarding their assigned portfolios, furthers the bank's vision for technology and is a leader in strategy and innovation to solve current and future business needs. The Senior IT Architect acts as leader of change and advisor to IT and Business Partners, proactively identifies improvement opportunities to effectively leverage technology to improve business capabilities, and collaborates with internal and external partners to ensure that technology decisions and blueprints align with the overall Enterprise Architecture Framework which supports the bank's business and technology strategies and goals. Partners with project teams to ensure all new technology solutions align with enterprise standards, architecture principles and patterns and meet non-functional requirements. Provides leadership and expertise in the development of standards, architectural governance, design patterns, and IT practices. Determines which information technology investments will yield the best return, both in terms of hard costs and productivity benefits. Actively champions reduction of IT risk by managing the technology obsolescence with the business system portfolio. This role may supervise and mentor other architects to enhance their design and leadership skills. Major Responsibilities: Project Support (40%) The Senior IT Architect is assigned to complex enterprise projects and transformative initiatives. Engages with the business and technology teams during strategic planning phase to influence the investment to drive the strategic vision, enables stakeholders to visualize the target state and achievement of benefits; draws connections across the enterprise to promote reusability of efforts and assets analyzes and translates business and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint to achieve complex business objectives. Reviews and influences project requirements for clarity, quality and feasibility. Collaborates with other architects, information security, application development and infrastructure teams to produce complete and optimal designs. Produces designs for cost effective solutions that take into consideration project and operational expenses. Makes appropriate architectural tradeoffs based on key business goals and is able to rationalize the decision. The Senior IT Architect proposes architecture solution alternatives considering business and technology constraints as well as opportunities. Drives alignment of business solutions to architectural standards. The IT Architect is able to decompose project scope into multi-phase/generation projects,delivers the Solution Architecture Document for the project, engages on prototype development to demonstrate new concepts and technology, and communicates effectively across project stakeholders of various levels and disciplines to influence change and drive clarity. IT Portfolio Management (40%) The Senior IT architect develops AS IS and TO BE state architecture blueprints and the roadmap to achieve the target state across multiple business domains. Maintains an organization-wide view of current and future business and application architecture and communicates across all levels of the organization to educate and inform the impact of change. Influences change opportunities and investments to achieve the target state. Describes the path forward regarding use of technology and champions the reduction of technology obsolescence. Analyzes the current architecture to identify weaknesses and develop opportunities for improvement such as enhancing business processes, expanding capacity, reducing time and cost, and increasing overall effectiveness. Advisory Services (20%) The Senior IT Architect stays current on vendor offerings and develops recommendations to the business teams for consideration and investment, performs vendor solution evaluations for business fit and standards alignment, facilitates post problem resolution by identifying long term solutions to operational issues. Mentors and trains other IT Architects. Participates in relevant industry groups and networks with industry peers to gain knowledge and share ideas and stays current on industry trends. The Senior IT Architect leverages research on Technology trends to drive improvements through emerging technology adoption and authors technical white papers and position papers. The Senior IT Architect is typically assigned to one of the following architecture domains. Specific responsibilities may vary depending upon the domain assignment: Business Architecture Domain: Works as a change agent with senior business stakeholders and plays a key part in shaping and fostering continuous improvement, business transformation and business innovation initiatives. Lead efforts aimed at building an effective description of business processes, organization, functions and capabilities. Advise on the structure of business models that may be enabled by business technology to work more effectively. Solution Architecture Domain: Deliver business solution designs that meet the functional needs and operate reliably while aligning to enterprise technology standards, strategies, reference architecture and patterns. Manage the system portfolio for the business domains to ensure health, stability and strategic fit. Data Architecture Domain: Provide a comprehensive technical solution for enterprise data management including structured and unstructured data that is aligned with and supports the Bank's business goals. This includes but is not limited to solutions for data quality, data integration, warehousing, metadata management, content management, big data, information architecture, master data, reference data and data modeling. Infrastructure Architecture Domain: Design infrastructure solutions following patterns and guidelines that promote operational stability, disaster recovery, availability, performance, and systems management. Assist in capacity planning and performance management. This includes but is not limited to hardware platforms, network, security, storage, operating systems, and infrastructure software and tools. Integration Architecture Domain: Drive compliance to a Services Oriented Architecture. Define the integration standards, patterns, governance, design-time tooling and run-time platforms that will support the enterprise current and future integration needs. This includes enterprise service discovery, service registration, deployment topologies, security policies and consumption. Also address legacy integration methods and technologies. Enterprise Architecture Domain: Provide governance for the Enterprise Architecture policy and standards. Chair and manage the Architecture Review Board. Manage the architecture process and controls. Publish EA metrics to demonstrate compliance and achievement of business goals. Manage EA programs such as IT Portfolio Management and System and Standards Inventory management. Set standards for and facilitate programs to generate system documentation. Develop views to visualize the Enterprise Technology and System portfolios. Manage EA communications across the business, vendor and technology stakeholders.

Typically requires a B.S. or higher degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field and over 12 years of experience in multiple IT areas with at least 5 years of direct, relevant architecture design experience. End to end development lifecycle experience a plus including project management skills. Must be able to assess requirements, designs, test plans, deployment plans and perform peer reviews Demonstrates a high level of technology and organizational leadership and influence. Collaborate effectively with peers, SME's, business teams, vendors and project stakeholders. Is viewed as the thought leader and is sought out for consultation and advisory services. Is able to initiate business cases and dialog with enterprise stakeholders to advance new strategies and methods. Must have executive presence and communication skills. A strong an effective change agent with excellent written and verbal communication skills capable of addressing stakeholders at different levels in the organization Ability to concisely model concepts using standardized notation. UML knowledge, modeling tools and case management experience a preference Strong organizational skills (multi-tasking) and a self-motivator
