Title: Data Scientist Location: Tempe, AZ Type: Contract Job Description: Essential Duties:
- Regularly apply advanced data analysis skills to understand detailed data flows between systems and within systems for their domain
- Design & implement data models, dimensional & relational concepts like Star-Schema, Snowflake Schema Modeling, Fact and Dimension tables; experience in Extract, Transform and Loading process of data
- Research, analyze, and interpret large data sets to develop data-driven insights
- Utilize multiple tools and programs to analyze and convert source data to a standardized format.
- Perform data quality control reviews and data assessments to identify trends and anomalies.
- Partner with teams such as information technology, cyber security engineering, business managers, and other analytical teammates to understand data and resolve business problems
- Translate business issues into data problems and use analytics to provide actionable solutions/recommendations that support overall product strategy
- Exercise creativity, critical thinking, analytical thinking, and collaboration to solve problems
- Develop spreadsheet and/or statistical models using a combination of management knowledge, statistical techniques, and machine learning/optimization techniques
- Assist in querying data and creating metrics for monitoring and analysis
- Using best practices framework to ensure data quality and reconciliation checks are in place and are transparent to our users
- Lead and support data needs for special projects
- Communicating with IT partners to share selected transformation processes by facilitating and reviewing business requirements.
- Participate in strategic planning of projects and initiatives
- Apply sound judgment in determining how to collect, interpret, transform, and analyze data to produce meaningful results
- Routinely recommend analytical solutions, data mining approaches, and scenario analysis to solve business problems
- Execute tasks independently and exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple resources
- Drive technical designs to consensus and approval by Architecture Review Team.
- Performs impact analysis of proposed changes on existing architecture, capabilities, system priorities, and technology solutions; looks for additional solution options or trade-offs. Identifies cost/benefit implications of proposed solutions (e.g. people, processes, technology, strategy, finance).
- Creates and maintains application architecture and related assets. Be the go-to person for development team on architecture discussions.
- Bachelor or Master's Degree in Engineering, Math, Computer Science, Econometrics, Statistics, Operational Research, or equivalent analytical or technical fields that use large data and statistics
- 5 plus years of data background with the ability to distill and synthesize various data into cohesive insights, analysis, and/or recommendation
- Proven knowledge of statistical modeling methods, and various advanced analytic techniques
- 3+ years using SQL or other query and scripting languages to aggregate, gather, and manipulate data.
- 2+ years reading and writing analytical programming languages (SQL, Python, R, or similar).
- Advanced knowledge of Business Objects, SQL, and Microsoft Applications, including Excel and Access.
- Proficient in analytic and visualization software (Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Databricks or similar)
- Deep understanding of relational databases, ETL tools, data conversion and data cleansing methodologies
- Experience with (or at least exposure to) cloud-based databases like Redshift, Snowflake, or BigQuery.
- Strong Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing large datasets especially Excel and SQL
- Experience with systems integration, building system models by combining model components and testing the integrity of modeling systems, proficient with model and systems implementation testing
- Ability to work with large data sets, databases and data models to derive actionable metrics
- Knowledge of information technology assets and related vulnerability information preferred
- Well versed with core CS concepts such as: common data structures and algorithms, profiling/optimization, cost optimization problems/machine learning
- Strong SQL experience; graphing skills
